RENT the Broadway Tour 12/5/09

I saw what it looks to be the final tour of the musical RENT and all I have to say is...
OMG what an amzing show
This was my third time seeing it, but this happened to be my favorite performance
Two of the orginal actors from the Brodway production in NYC Adam Pascal who played Roger, and Anthony Rapp who played Mark repraised their roles and they both did a fantastic job, as did the rest of the cast

Yesterday I attended a performance of "A Christmas Carol" at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. It starred Christopher Lloyd ("Taxi", "Back To The Future") as Ebenezer Scrooge, and the cast included Jane Leeves ("Frasier") and John Goodman ("Roseanne"). My wife and mother-in-law went with me as a gift from ourselves to ourselves.

First, let me say that I rarely venture into the Hollywood area despite being out here in La-La-Land....

Just a few meandering thoughts about the show last night. I may post more as I recall them.

The Buckinghams opened the show. The played for a little over an hour, covered all their hits and did a few Christmas songs. There's one song they did about remembering the troops at Christmas that was pretty moving. My friends and I had a chance to talk with several of the guys before the show, as they were sitting right next to us at the casino bar and grille.

I'm back from Davy's show-it was fantastic! The venue is a small dinner theater. While we waited for the show to start they played Monkees songs over the sound system while we ordered drinks and food. It was fun to be among other Monkees fans. Last night my husband and I saw Tina Turner and her band at Arco Arena in Sacramento. We weren't off to a real auspicious start, as previously that day I'd had to attend an out of town funeral (with my little one in tow) and my husband's wallet was stolen. At least we had something fun to look forward to that night! However, I must add that I was quite tired by the time we got there and probably didn't take as much notice of things as I should have. TWO shows. One at 3pm, the second at 8pm. From 4pm on, the key word was "wet." Yeah, it rained for most of the rest of the day.

The first show was packed. The second not as much, but still had a great crowd.

No offense intended to those among us who may be Peter Noone fans, but I do enjoy original drummer Barry Whitwam's long-running incarnation of Herman's Hermits. The band played here in Oshkosh tonight at Waterfest after a several year absence. Since I was right up front and center and got some really good shots, I thought I'd post a few.
