29th Anniversary of John Lennon's Death

It's hard for me to believe that it's been 29 years since John Lennon was murdered on December.8,1980 at roughly 10:50pm. I was all of 13 at that time and remember the emotions upon finding out the next morning.
Beatles & Lennon albums jumped from $2.99 to $8.99 by the next day.
School was surreal that day. It was like a dream.
He had so much more to do.

Has anyone heard of these guys? I only just recently discovered them, and I love them. In a way they kind of reminded me of the Monkees . They had an HBO show that ran for two seasons, and basically it was these two guys from New Zealand who are a band trying to make it big in NYC. They have ONE fan, a manager, and never get any good gigs. It's definitely on HBO for a reason - not something I would let little kids...

Turner Classic Movies will be showing the first movie with Herman's Hermits 'When The Boys Meet The Girls' on October 8th at 2:45 PM, EST. The movie is a remake of the Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney movie 'Girl Crazy'. The movie also stars Connie Francis, Sam the Sham and Pharaohs, Louis Armstrong and Liberace, with the music of George Gershwin added into the mix. I saw Paul McCartney play the Citi Field, the new stadium that replaced Shea Stadium, on July 21st. This was a very historic concert since The Beatles were the first Rock band to play a Rock & Roll show at Shea, so it was only fitting that Paul was the first Rock artist to play Citi Field. I just find out that Gordon Waller from Peter and Gordon died yesterday. We saw him at the Beatles convention I think about three years ago. He had cardiac arrest and was 64.

So they are finally putting the Beatles out on Rock Band. Has anyone seen this or heard of it yet? I'm thinking about getting it, when it's released, but it seems fairly expensive. Either way I'm excited! I don't know how it'll turn out, and I've never played any of these Rock Band or Guitar Hero games, but this is making me consider it!

It's been a while since I've mentioned my "other" favorite band here, and I thought this was worth mentioning.

This summer, Chicago is reuniting with Earth, Wind and Fire for a tremendous national tour, with both bands playing onstage together at several points in the show. Check out the "Live At The Greek" DVD from a few years back if you have the chance.

This year, the two groups have decided to join forces to help out the fight in world...

Turner Classic Movies will be showing the Herman's Hermits' movies 'Hold On!' and 'Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter' on July 9th, 2009. 'Hold On!' will be on at 9:15 AM and 'Mrs. Brown' at 10:45 AM. And of interest, the movie 'Get Yourself A College Girl' which features the Dave Clark Five will be shown the same day at 2:30 PM. Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits will be the special guest of Mark Simone on the April 18th, 2009 Saturday Night Oldies Radio program. He should be plugging the same Teen Idols show that Micky plugged on last weeks SNO show. The show airs from 6pm to 10pm EST. It can be heard in the NYC area on 770 AM. The station has a wide listening range so you may be able to hear it in surrounding states, some as far as Florida.

The program streams live on the WABC-AM website.
