I was watching an old interview with Ray Manzarek from the late 80s and he was saying that one of his biggest regrets is that the Doors never performed "L.A Woman" live when Jim Morrison was alive. I had to watch that segment over again just to make sure I heard him correctly,then I went and checked the recording of the Doors live in Dallas on 12-11-1970,which turned out to be the last complete concert with Jim and lo and behold,there is "L.A Woman" right there,having been...

Listening to the 6-5-70 concert,I see what you mean,Cindy. Jim just did the show and that was it. Not an inspired concert. Interestingly,the very next night,6-6-70 in Vancouver,the Doors did a great show at the PNE Coliseum.

If I'm not mistaken, The Doors Seattle performance wasn't a very good show. Jim sounded as if he was just "there" and didn't have his heart and soul into it.

I missed seeing the Doors in Seattle in June 1970. Woulda been an interestin show. We went to Seattle in July 1970 to stay with my wifes parents for a few weeks,like we did every summer. We missed the Doors by maybe two weeks. We did get to see Janis Joplin instead in Seattle that July.

I know what you mean,Cindy. Alot of the 1970 Doors concerts that have been officially released over the past few years are great to listen to,but they are a hit or miss,as you know. On some nights,Jim was on. On other nights,Jim was in a bad way and it showed.
The release of these concerts is,I think,mostly sanctioned by Ray Manzarek. It's all about the money with him,as we know. Maybe in his mind 20 extra bootleg CDs being officially released means he can pay off his new home.

I see what you're saying, Ray and agree with you.

My problem with releasing the bootlegs is that somebody is making money off of it and I don't think that's right.

I'm not that happy about the Doors releasing bootlegs. That may sound odd,considering I collect bootlegs. But if you think about it,the Doors only released 6 studio albums and 1 live album during Jim Morrisons lifetime,then the three remaining Doors released 2 albums right after Jim died.
That's not alot of albums,considering how legendary the Doors have become.
Releasing bootlegs officially is a nice thing,in my opinion,but when will the Doors decide to stop releasing...
