I asked him one time why him & mom gave me his name as a middle name and dad told me.

I have a sister called Cathy Jo, but only my mom called her by the whole name when she was hollering at her, when we were growing up. I have a son called William Joseph, supposed to have been then called Billy Jo, but only the Billy 'took' as time went on,

My confirmation name is Lucy, which is also my maternal grandmother's name. My middle name is Marie. A fairly common one I've noticed.

I have a cousin, Nancy, with the middle name Ann, and we always called her Nancy Ann when she and I were growing up in the 80s. When we got to our teens, I think she was trying to drop it. But it still comes out now and then. Her sister would always call her...

Veronica, named after my maternal grandmother Vera.
Who is Roman Catholic? Because then there would also be a "confirmation" name, though I don't think people refer to that one much through life. I have one, Doreen, because my godmother for the confirmation was my Aunt Dorothy.

I think it was more common when I was growing up in the sixties. I don't see it quite so much now.

My youngest son's name is Thomas Michael (after certain Monkees). When he was small I would always call him Tommy, or Thomas Michael. Someone asked his name, I said it was Thomas. He said, "No!" He insisted it was ThomasMichael, all one word, he didn't know it was two words.

My middle name is Ann. My mom always called me by my first and middle names ,Mary Ann. Do you know when someone asked me my middle name once they said in confusion, "Mary Ann Ann?" DUH!!
