They've gone down some, Ray. Most roads in the area are passable now but some are still closed. Of the roads that are still underwater, the fear is what the standing water has done to the pavement. There's one road close to here where an area of pavement washed out. They have gravel on it now. One of the roads near where my Dad lives is still closed.

Sorry to hear that things still haven't gotten better,Lucy. I was hoping the waters would of started receding several weeks ago when they announced on the news that they would start by mid-week that week.

To answer everyone -

Yes, I had 40 acres and "share-cropped" with a farmer who sometimes planted rice on it. We did crop rotation, so he planted rice, wheat, soybeans, etc.. That's the 40 acres I sold to buy my new place!

And yes, tornadoes came through Little Rock, but that's about two hours SouthWest of here, so not close to me. Pocahontas is still flooded and the rain just...

Hi Lucy,

I thought I saw a news item scroll across my TV screen this morning that a tornado went through Arkansas. Is it true? I hope you were no where near it if it is! Arkansas is certainly getting some crazy weather this year!

The water is starting to recede, but we're expecting rain for the next few days. I have a feeling the water is gonna rise again.

I am so sorry to hear of this flooding news in your city. I have no cable or local TV so I have no idea what goes on in the world generally unless I see it online. But I hope you're still safe and free from your house being flooded. Wow Lucy, I'm really glad you're okay. I've been thinking about you and your family ever since this flooding started. I saw on TV a sign saying 'welcome to Pocahontas' (or something like that) and it was almost covered. It's good that you're able to stock up on food and that you still have electricity (and internet access too) Stay safe, okay?

Right.... Black River here in Pocahontas has not even crested yet. At least they've pumped the water from Wal-Mart parking lot and we can make it there again. Bobby would have had to drive 60 miles out of the way, one way, to get to work today, so they didn't work. We don't know about tomorrow. As I said, my world is really scary right now.

I just found the story on ABCNews.com and watched it. Some of the video they shot is the same areas as the pictures I took. Highway...

I saw a segment on the evening news today on the area you live in,Lucy,and it was really scarey. They said they are not predicting the flood waters to start to recede until the middle of the week at the earliest.

Yup, an explosion at the meat packing plant at Booneville. And a man crashed not one, but TWO cars into a post office in Ravenden Springs here in Randolph County. He drove one into the building, left the scene, got another car and drove it into the same post office. Apparently he's anti-government. Mike Von Fremd from ABC News was here today. I guess they did a live remote from here on Good Morning America this morning.
