Duc, you are probably right. I have only seen a images of George a few times. And George is not in a close up in that pic. Duc who is that in your pic I can't figure out if it Annikan Skywalker or someone else (whose name has escaped me)

The picture is from a very old postcard of the Marquis. I have some postcards and there is noticeable differences, maybe a few years or so. I did find a pic of the inside of Dublin's Pub and there is a "Est. 1939" above the bar. So...

Yeah, I'm upset about this trendy Hollywood crap. Yeah, things change, but as Nora said, the building had class. Now it's just another place on the strip. I'll cry if they tare down the Laurel Canyon Store, or Kit Kraft.

Wow, even the before pic here of the Marquis looks different than when I first saw it in a 1974 LA visit. I wonder what year that pic was taken?

I guess the Marquis went through alot of transistions over the years, but nice that the name stayed on the building for as long as it did. I am pretty sure that is George. I recall seeing that picture and a few others a couple of years back. He was also with two other cooks at the time. We concluded George was the one with the spotted tie. As for the Marquis, it held it's name for years then it was turned into Dublin's Pub. (I believe it was also a Carlos & Charlies) Unfortunately, it was torn down in 2005 and completely renovated into a place called Sunset Strip. Now, they turned the ownership over to a place...

Considering that they identified Peter in another picture as "Peter Talk," I think whoever is in charge at this website is less than in the know about the actual identities of the people in the pictures! Thanks for all these finds anyway, SGS7 -- nice pictures, even if some of the captions are less than accurate!

I am not sure that is his dad either, maybe someone else will know for sure. Pretty cool, SGS7 that you knew about this place in LA; definitely a conversation piece. Dolenz is a rather unusual family name, so not sure who else it could be (or could be a mix up in IDing the chef).

Yeah, Nora, I thought about the restaurant name myself and wondered that. You are right. It was the Marquis restaurant that George, Sr. owned.

I remember seeing the Marquis on the Sunset Strip on my first LA trip in 1974. Of course, this was long after the time Micky's dad owned it, but as soon as I saw the building with the Marquis name still on it, I thought of Micky and his dad. The teen mags back in the '60s made mention of Micky's dad owning that...
