Nora, I'd seen an Oprah show about polygamy this past season. Was the author on the show by chance?

Aspiemonkeediva, what is the book about that you are reading on the 60's?

Feef, same here with me, I've read a lot of autobios too! This would be that latest one Shattner has put out that you are reading? I'm looking to grab onto the bio of Barbara Walters called Audition.

I just started "Stolen Innocence", a book about a girl living in polygamist sect who was married at 14. She was the lady who testified against Warren Jeffs later after she'd escaped the marriage.

Last one I read was House of Leaves. One of the most bizarre and indescribable books ever. I've never seen a book where the text goes inside out, up the page, upside down, in the corner, and various other weird patterns to match with the hectic pace of what you're reading. For stretches it's literally 'turn the page, flip the book over, turn the page, flip the book back' and craziness like that for lots of stretches. And I can't say I've seen a narrative that jumps...

About the gangster era....yes, many in the general public thought of some of the bank robbers as "Robin Hoods". I think that some of the robbers even did help out people with some of the money.

That's wonderful! I've read about so many kids getting interested in reading because of HP. Does he enjoy the movies, too, and has he finished the whole series of books?

My own son was 8 (I think) when the books came out. He has always been a voracious reader, and my mother-in-law bought him the HP books as they came out. I didn't start reading them until the fourth one was out. We had gone on...

I wanted something fairly light for the summer, so I'm reading a collection of short stories about Sherlock Holmes. I can usually finish one in the hour or so that I'm watching my daughter swim in the neighborhood pool.

I'm also a big Harry Potter fan, so I really want to start over again from the very beginning and read through all the books.

I have Al Gore's The Assault on Reason, and I pick it up and read a bit when I'm in the mood for...

I just finished reading "Rocket Boys" , by Homer Hickam - it was the basis for the movie "Rocket Boys". Fascinating look at the times and the determination of "poor boys" from the West Virginia coal mining region. I really enjoyed it. Normally, I read fiction rather than non-fiction, but this was an excellent exception.

I've been meaning to read that book for awhile, I have it somewhere back home.

It is. I was reading it during the time of my husb illness. It helped to get me through those days, by just focusing on the present moment.

I just received a copy of The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle that I bought on Ebay. I can't wait to start reading it. It looks like it will be good!

One interesting thing about "Nora" is that quite a bit of it takes place in early 1900s in Trieste, Italy, the birthplace of George Dolenz Sr.

Just wondering what the other avid readers are currently perusing. The last book I was read "Shattered Dreams", about a woman who escaped a polygamist marriage. The author was actually a neighbor of ours before moving.

I am now reading "Founding Mothers" by Cokie Roberts, about the wives and mothers of the Founding fathers.
