This week the Thousand Oaks Acorn will run a wrap up of Conejo Valley Days. It says that the park was full the nights that Micky and The Grassroots (they played Saturday) performed. It mentions that people came from all over the state to see the shows and stay at local hotels (i.e., pump money into the local economy).

You out of towners know who you are! Thanks for coming! Maybe this will inspire the CVD powers-that-be to book Monkee Man for next year's show.

Did anyone notice that the fedora that Micky wore at the show is very similar to the one he wore on "Alias Micky Dolenz?" And is that hat really channelling Indiana Jones?

Speaking for myself...I have no particular need to seem in any way braggadocious or flaunt, I do these reviews for you folks here to increase your incentive and your will to catch your own fun when it comes to (or near enough!) to your town.

An interesting observations: I took photos of the Micky/Davy show at Calif. Adventura Park (Anaheim) in 2002. Coco sang. In my photos she had brown sort of curly hair. But at the CVD show, her hair was blonde and straight! Any thoughts on that?

She's a woman-it's her perogative to change her hair!

Regarding "Sally" of the review: she's not officially a "reporter" but writes the occassional review and article for the paper. Also, she didn't attend all the 2001 tour dates, just a few, including the last one with all three in Anaheim, Calf.

Reports about the CVD's struggling budget are balanced with optimism...apparently classic rock is a good draw to this fair, and that's good news for us local fans of our favorite retro music!

Yes, Cinni, the T.O. Acorn reporter was the Sally whom Nora mentioned. A very nice lady who attended all of the shows on the "3Kees" 2001 Tour.

Nora, if I remember correctly from when Sandy was with Davy, he DOES have a daughter - I seem to recall his daughter being with him at Epcot! He often hands out drumsticks to kids (I think he gave a set to Beets' son a number of years ago).

Anybody see this article? Nora - it mentions you (although not by name) as the catcher of the towel!

A few other little memories:

~Sandy (the drummer) coming off the stage during "Mary, Mary" to give the little girl (she looked about 2) who was dancing up front one of the drumsticks. A nice gesture on Sandy's part, but I'm guessing he doesn't have kids!

~Finding out that Sally, a fellow fan, had also served as a United Methodist pastor!

Hi Gang! Ol' E.W. is back after a LONG hiatus and with a new concert review of Micky's performance last night.

The show was held at the Conejo Valley Days Festival in Thousand Oaks, CA. Nora and her husband flew down from NoCal, and Molly and her husband drove up from San Gabriel (that IS where you live, right, Molly?). Our plan was for me and my wife to meet up...
