And by that I mean, "standard brand" cigarettes. 
I seem to recall reading somewhere, ages ago, that Micky never smoked regular cigarettes, even though the rest of the band did at the time in the 60s. Can
anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks!

Well, all I can find right now is that he starts sniffing a lot if his throat gets irritated by cigarette smoke. I could have sworn I've read somewhere
that he doesn't like being around cigarette smoke, but right now I can't remember where. Of course, that doesn't mean that he never smoked. I think
most people did back in the 60s.

Yeah, I read that in his book too. Also, I've seen pics floating around of Mike, Peter and Davy smoking (and even Samantha!) but never one of Micky
smoking. I would think that being allergic to it (as I am) he'd stay away from it, but you never know. It was quite common back in the day.

Yeah, I grew up with 3 smokers (my mother and both my grandparents). I hate to think what all that secondhand smoke did to my lungs. But it seems like
everybody smoked back then. I recently saw a picture from back in the 60s of Bob Denver smoking, and it looked so strange to see Gilligan smoking.

I'm allergic to smoke myself. If get around it, my throat gets dry, my eyes water, I start coughing, I get nauseous, and sometimes, I start itching and/or
get a headache.

I used to smoke a pack and a half a day. I quit 15 years ago. I used to get bronchitis all the time and when I quit, I never got it again!

....seems to me there are pictures of all the guys in the very early days, could be on Rhino's site??? And Micky had a cigarette. He probably tried it like
all young people do...back then Surgeon General warnings and so on had not really yet his the masses. I mean, there were even cigarette ads on tv and in print
all over the place then. But I've seen him with a cigarette somewhere in picture.....it probably didn't agree with him much as you all are saying, and
that sure is a good thing then for him.

He never smoked regular cigarettes no, but we all know he smoked other things. He even admitted it in his book.
Now, I personally, would never want to jeopardize anyone else's health by my addiction of cigarette smoking. I am not a smoker and I never will be, but just imagine you smoking all your life and then voila all your non-smoking friends got cancer from YOUR second-hand smoke. I don't think I could EVER live with myself.

I have pictures of Peter,Davy & Mike smoking regular cigarettes,but not Micky. I only have pics of Micky smoking the "Other" stuff.
It's been almost 20 years since I smoked a cigarette and I am so glad I quit.

I agree, everyone smoked cigarettes back then. I remember I used to sit by my Uncle Ray and sniff the smoke when he smoked because I loved the way it smelled.
Definitely not a good thing! I haven't had a cigarette in almost 21 years. I have to admit, though, sometimes I still want to have one especially if
I'm having a drink. As for Micky smoking the funny stuff, lots of people did that too.

I used to have a gentleman friend that smoked a pipe. When we would travel, such as to Aspen or the Kentucky Derby, etc, I got him to smoke cherry blend
tobacco. It was what smelled good. (Comparatively). I've always hated secondhand smoke (never smoked cigarettes, myself) and cigar smoke makes me
physically sick.

I like to smell pipe smoke, too (I can't stand cigarette/cigar smoke). I know it's still unhealthy, but at least it smells good.

I am quite happy to read about him never smoking a cigarette lol I am quite strange like that. pipe is ok, and i know that pic of him lighting one up to. i never really smell pipe smell though lol |
