Got to see David last night here at ARTFEST in Addison, Texas, and it was an excellent show. The set list didn't seem to be as long as I hoped it would be, but I have no complaints if it was a slightly shortened show. The place was pretty well packed, as it usually is when I see his shows in this area. The stage seemed rather small and a lot of the equipment took up a large part of the stage. Davy still danced around as much as he could and ended up having to step or jump over various pieces of equipment while he was quickly moving around, which had me biting my nails, but he did it flawlessly! During Daydream Believer he had the crowd sing the main chorus towards the end of the song, which of course everyone knows, and he said something like, "I think they've got it!"
The weather wasn't too terribly bad -- probably in the 80s when the show began around 9pm, with moderate humidity. There was a steady breeze that Davy mentioned he was happy about, as we all were
I arrived about four hours before the concert started in order to claim a front and center spot (which was early enough to hear the band do their sound check). Met a lot of nice fans up there and a lot of people brought their memorabilia for Davy to sign and he was nice enough to stick around for several minutes after the show to sign autographs (which he did after he changed his shirt backstage). A little girl had someone pass a small American flag to Davy for him to sign for her, which he did. I mentioned to the people around her how appropriate it was that he signed the flag, since he's in the process of becoming an American citizen. They were happy to hear that he's in the process of doing that and wanted to know the reason why he's doing it, so I told them what he said in the recent interview. A man passed his camera through the crowd to have someone take Davy's picture and Davy signed the camera, LOL!
Right before Davy took the stage to do his encore, a group of people behind me started chanting "Davy, Davy, Davy..." I turned back to look at them briefly and joined in on the chant. Just as I started to turn back towards the the stage, Davy threw his "sweat towel" to the keyboardist, who immediately threw the towel out into the crowd. I wasn't expecting it and barely had time to react, but the breeze just happened to catch the towel long enough to keep it hanging over my head, so I jumped up and grabbed it and held on for dear life, LOL. I wanted to have him sign the non-fluffy end of the towel, but I missed out because I was parched and had to go get a drink of water
These are the songs I can remember off-hand, in no particular order:
I'm a Believer
Daydream Believer
Girl
Let Them Be Little
She Hangs Out
Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You
I Wanna Be Free
What Am I Doing Hangin' 'Round
Papa Gene's Blues
Steppin' Stone
Valleri
Wasted Days and Wasted Nights
Bright Side of the Road
No Time (encore)
I believe he sang "I'll Love You Forever", but it's not one I'm that familiar with (only heard it a few times before), so I can't remember for sure. If that is the song he sang, I loved the live version so much that I can't wait to get ahold of a copy of it -- either live or studio. I was hoping he would sing "Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow," like last time, but getting to hear him sing "No Time" made up for it.
I took a few pics with a disposable camera while he was on stage. If any of them come out, I'll post them.
