I have been wanting to watch it for a few years now (when I learned about it). I liked it overall. Some great songs are showcased and interviews with many famous people in the music scene. Though it was kinda depressing for me overall, Rodney seems to be a really genuine and seemingly introverted guy. I first knew about Rodney from reading about Monkees stuff back in the 80s, particularly from the book Monkees Tale. I then found out Rodney was Davy's double in the Prince and the Pauper episode. I didn't know Rodney was still big in the scene into the 80s and wanting to play obscure rock on his radio show in LA. Anyway, on the DVD extras area, there is more footage of Davy talking about Rodney and fame in general. Some of it has very adult-themed material, so it definitely isn't for everyone. (I posted a report about it, but that was last year, hard to find where I put it, though!) My sister is a long-time friend of Rodney's...from what I understand, he is indeed quite introverted, but loves to promote the music and bands he loves, and that's no doubt what makes him a personality of name and note. He is the most unlikely impresario you will ever meet, but dang, the man has a name in this town, it's recognized, and despite the heartaches, he does have an unusual life story and he seems to love what he does. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ My fansite: The Monkees @ FashionState.Com Can you dig it?

I also have this DVD, marnweb. Yes, there is alot of adult material on this DVD. I also found alot of the film depressing, but don't let that stop anyone from giving this film a look. Davy's interviews in the film and in the extras is, of course, a big highlight. And it's an interesting look into Rodney's life. One of the people in the film said that for all the stars that Rodney knows or "broke" on his radio show, he should be a superstar, but he's not. He just comes across as this quiet introverted person. Very un-Hollywood like, for sure.

I think there was way too much Pamela Des Barres. She's famous for scandalous behavior. Rather lame in my book, so I have no interest in her at all, nor her husband, Michael. It seems Rodney didn't seem to mind not having much, though I could be misreading it. I like the soundtrack, I might pick up the CD for it. They even featured a Smiths song, but I forget right now which one it is. I love the Smiths.
