I got this message on the Monkeeland MySpace site from Terry, a friend of Stu (stu2) who for the newer members of the board was a wonderfully kindhearted
Monkeelander, who we lost on February 2, 2004. There is a memorial to him on monkeeland.com if anyone
would care to see it.
Anyway, Terry said it was ok for me to post his message here, and I also invited him to join the board to remember Stu.
On a Sunday night, just chillin' and reminiscing about college. An internet search for Stuart told me more than perhaps I needed to know.I lived on the 4th floor of Mary Josita Hall at Clarke College in Dubuque Iowa, a few doors down from Stuart Fjeld who I think you know. The years were 1984 and 1985. We were a tight knit group up there; burn outs, computer geeks, survivalists and foreign students packaged as neatly as you'd expect. The cool folks were on the 3rd floor. In the short time I knew him I experienced his sense of loyaly to those he trusted, and some very interesting political views.
I'm happy to know that Stuart touched so many lives. I wish he had lived longer, and indeed tonight was hoping to find out how to reach him. From your web memorial I read that one of his lessons was that we should always take time for one another as often as possible. He's still teaching that.
I'll pass this news to my brothers, who I know will be saddned, but inspired by how he lived.
Onward,
Terry
