Anyone besides me like musicals, see them often? Lately, I've been loving the soundtracks, even though I don't get to see them often. I blame Andrew Lloyd Webber ... I've seen: Mamma Mia!, Suessical the Musical, The Boyfriend, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolored Raincoat I plan on seeing before I die: The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, The Full Monty (Patrick Wilson = ), Beauty & the Beast, The Lion King -Laura (www.wheelinthesky.org/viddywell)

Most of the ones I like are a bit out of the ordinary, though. Musicals that lean more towards pop or rock. Mama Mia! is awesome. I saw a touring production here in Wisconsin back in April. Very well done. Made me appreciate Abba's music more than what I really had. And of course, there's Aida. Anything with Micky Dolenz in it has to be good! Jesus Christ Superstar is my all-time fave. The original concept album with Ian Gillian from Deep Purple as Jesus just rocks. I crank that sucker up every year. I fell in love with Les Miserables in high school. There was a point in 1991 where I put all of my other musical interests...Monkees, Chicago, BS&T, oldies in general...aside and just focused on Les Miz. I must have like 20 different versions of the musical in my collection, including a number of foreign language recordings. Before The Rocky Horror Picture Show, there was a musical stage version that preceeded it. There's both a London production soundtrack and a (more well-known) Roxy (New York) cast recording. Both are interesting, and vary somewhat from the music that eventually wound up in the movie version. And of course, I've had a soft spot in my heart for musicals I participated in back in high school. Grease!, Guys & Dolls, Anything Goes. This year i will see in the heights, spring awakening, and jersey boys.

There are definte advantages to living within a couple hours drive of San Francisco! Actually, come to think of it I saw Aida, too, but unfortunately it was before Micky was in it-drat!
