I have to say I don't really think I've heard any of Amy Winehouse's music. I'm sure she's a talented girl but from all the stuff I've
read about her personal troubles, it's kind of turned me off to even attempt to listen to her.

Well, set aside the personal troubles she is still a great artist, besides she won five grammys this year including record of the year, song of the year, and

I've never heard Mika, but I've heard Amy. She has a great voice, but I'm not too much into her music style. She is better than many other new artists I've heard. Like others have posted, I think her personal troubles getting in the news all the time are a bit of a turn off to me. Also with Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus--I still like her, but the recent "scandals" about Miley kind of turn me off a bit. Did you guys hear she has another new album coming out? In July. Angela

I have heard a few Amy Winehouse songs on the radio. I like her stuff: I remember a song Rehab - I like that one despite what it may mean for her. I may even
buy an album. Her voice is different and the instrumentation sounds old fashioned but appealing for me as a listener. Though it is hard, I just ignore all the
tabloid stories about her, which is how I found out who she was. Very unfortunate that is.

This is true - but when she cancels or pulls out of concert after concert it begins to affect how much respect th fans have. I don't want to start talking
about her private life, this board isn't the place to do that but I there is little doubt that it affects her music. I think she has an awesome voice
though and she can write a decent tune too. I wish she'd get on the straight and narrow and then we could see what she can really do. As for Mika, I think
he's pretty clean cut, and I do like that song about Big Girls - it's funny

Mika reminded me a bit of Freddy Mercury the first time I heard him, and I stand by that, but Freddy still holds a higher position in my heart <3.
Amy Winehouse has an interesting, more old fashioned sound and I really like it. It's funny, she's worse off personally, I think, than many current pop stars who have similar troubles, but it seems like there's a bit less focus on her - maybe because we didn't have the benefit of the "good girl gone bad" story? But I do wish she would clean up her act, especially considering all the little kids who listen to popular music (who are getting younger every day :-P), and see this behavior.
