Here's how it works. Someone posts the name of a celebrity, and the next player has to figure out how many degrees of separation there are between that person and The Monkees. I've set up the degrees as follows:
Degree #0 = The Monkees as a group/unit
Degree #1 = Somebody who has had direct contact with The Monkees as a unit (including any of the individual Monkees -- i.e., Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork or Michael Nesmith)
Degree #2 = Someone who has had direct contact with anyone who fits the Degree #1 category
Degree #3 = Someone who has had direct contact with anyone who fits the Degree #2 category
Degree #4 = Someone who has had direct contact with anyone who fits the Degree #3 category
Degree#5 = Someone who has had direct contact with anyone who fits the Degree #4 category
Degree #6 = Someone who has had direct contact with anyone who fits the Degree #5 category
Here are a couple of examples:
Example A: How many degrees of separation is Noah Beery, Jr. from The Monkees?
1. Noah Beery, Jr. acted with Micky Dolenz (aka Mickey Braddock) in Circus Boy.
2. Micky Dolenz grew up to be a member of The Monkees
Answer = Noah Beery, Jr. is 2 degrees of separation away from The Monkees.
Example B: Paul Reiser
1. Paul Reiser acted with Helen Hunt in Mad About You.
2. Helen Hunt acted with Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets.
3. Jack Nicholson worked with The Monkees on Head.
Answer = Paul Reiser is 3 degrees of separation away from The Monkees.
I'm sure there must be many different ways that the person in question can relate back to The Monkees, but try to think of the most direct path you can. Once you've answered the question, please post a new question for the next player to answer.
I'll start the game off with a relatively easy one:
How many degrees of separation from The Monkees is Dick Van Dyke?
