Hi, first time post, age 55 male, long time fan of the group, just found this site. I have been looking for a shirt similar to the double breasted type the
group used to wear. Came in both cotton and velour, anyone with any leads I would appreicate it. Gary

Try western wear clothes, since the Monkees shirts were patterened after western wear.

Also, try Chef Coat & Jackets, if you know someone handy with needle & thread they could make some adjustments.

Your best bet might be to ask a seamstress to make one for you as they're so hard to find.

The closest to the Monkee shirt is: Chef Coats & Jackets. There is a web-site called: My Chef Jackets, they do custom jobs, to your specifications.
theses are about the closest to having a seamtress make one for you. Theses are very like the shirts. good luck

Yeah, they are also known as: Bib Shirts, if you look this up on the net they come in all styles, I remember that John Wayne wore them in his movies and the
Monkee shirt was in the movie 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. When I was making the shirts for the Barbie convention 3 years ago I had to find pics of the shirts and
make my own patterns. I was successful in making the red shirts for the Ken dolls (won second place)and blue shirts for the Kelly dolls(won first place).

Ok, : Frontier Outfitter Inc has a shirt called : Canton Bib Shirt which is the closest to a ready made Monkee shirt. If you lookup Canton Bib Shirt there are
many web-sites that have this shirt.

Hey Jimpotter, since you have voiced your talent on making the shirt already, how about contacting me direct and we can work out a deal and you can make me
one! Gary

As, much as I would like to do someting like that, what I made was for Barbie dolls, not full size adult shirts. That is very involved work, and I am no
seamstress, it would not be fair to anyone wanting something to wear, to have someone who is not a seamtress to make. There is also no pattern out there. And
if I did something like that I would charge a lot more than the Canton Bib Shirt are. I also don't have the time right now for even my own hobbys.

Gary, you may want to try contacting The Missing Links. They are a
Monkees tribute band, and they wear the Monkees-style 8-button double-breasted shirts in their shows. You can find out more about them here and also in this
thread in the General Music Discussion Forum here at Monkeeland. One of our ML members, Sandra Monkee01, is head of their fan club and may know a bit
about how and where they got their shirts too.

Good point. Had not thought of the Missing Links. All the times I watched that Movie 7 Brides for 7 Brothers I never made the conection till I actually sat a
watched it, I was OMG Monkee shirts. I do know when I made the little ones the sleeves had 3 buttons on each sleeve. on a cuff slight puff sleeve, a plete in
the back, and the bib part was removeable, attached by the buttons. There is one pic and an episode in which Davy did not have the bib part on, it was just the
buttons. Actually they are pretty cool shirts. Gary, do try the above. I would as I said make something like that but I've got way too much things going
on. I'm de-clutting a house, and have to paint the basement to stop the leak, gardening, trying to go to Davy concerts and my hobby stuff, I need a 48 hour
day, and work, not my idea of fun and taking care of my Mom.n I need a vacation from everything.

In 1966 I made my friend Lani and myself matching Monkee dresses to wear to the concerts. They had detachable bibs. They were blue and I sewed white letters
on the bibs. Mine said David Jones and Lani's said Micky Dolenz. We wore them by RCA and Peter pulled on my bib and said "What's this?"

Thanks for all your repsonses, I found someone who will make the shirt for me for around $70, I also found a few sites that have pictures of the shirt, I have
one more question, someone said the bib is removable, what is under the bib once its removed? is it an open cut, I'd like to see a pic of the shirt without
the bib, this possible? Gary

I bought a shirt just like that one the other day! Darker red, though- and tighter. Would've preferred a looser one, but choices are limited when you shop
second hand, hehe.
