I took a short hiatus to catch up with some other stuff, but now I'm back!
Once again, our heroes are going to go back in time--this time it will be to ancient Egypt, where they have to help a pharaoh keep his throne from his scheming uncle. Will they succeed...or end up mummies themselves?
Of course, Laura or anybody else is most welcome to lend a hand!
Peter sat on the beach and pouted. His fourth attempt to build a pyramid in the sand ended up the like the other three times; with a total collapse of the structure.
Micky, Mike and Davy were sitting nearby, quietly watching their friend. When the pyramid collapsed again, they just simply shook their heads.
"You gonna need something to hold it up better, Peter." Mike said, unfolding his newspaper. "The ancient egyptians used stones anyway."
"I know." Peter said sadly, "Huge stones two to five tons each. It's absolutely amazing at what they accomplished all those years ago."
"And archeaologists aren't even sure how they were built in the first place." Micky added.
"Yeah, those Egyptians sure were smart." Peter smiled, fingering the ankh he wore around his neck.
The other three Monkees chuckled at Peter's remark. Ever since he watched a special on Egyptian pyramids on TV a few weeks ago, Egypt, Pharaohs, pyramids and hyroglyphics were all blond bassist ever talked about.
"Hey Peter, here's something you may be interested in." Mike said, holding his newspaper out to him. "The history museum is having an Egyptian exhibit."
"Really?" Peter said excitedly, almost ripping the paper out of Mike's hand.
"Wow, it starts tomorrow and will have real mummies on display!" Peter read. "It will even have the real-life mummy and tomb of King Tutenfruti the first there!"
"Wow, the whole tomb?" Davy asked.
"Yeah, I remember the special I saw on TV talked about him." Peter replied, "He was about our age when he became Pharaoh but he died suddenly not long afterwards."
"That's terrible." Micky remarked.
"Can we go tomorrow, Mike?" Peter asked. "Tuesdays are free admission days at the museum."
"We have some errands to run and rehearse...but I guess so." Mike replied.
"Yeah, thanks Mike!" Peter exclaimed, getting up and hugging Mike, at the same time getting sand all over Mike.
