The family and I leave on Monday morning for a trip to the San Diego area (I don't call it a "vacation" when travelling with the kids, lol!). We're going to do all the touristy things...LegoLand, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, etc. We'll probably take in a Padres game since I have a cousin who works for Petco Park. I'm not sure what kind of internet access I'll have but I'll try to stop by while I'm gone! Everyone be good now, and remember, no trying to sneak in smut in the Creative Corner while I'm gone

When we went to Tahoe last October, I was tempted to leave after two days because the kids were just so awful. They don't sleep well away from home (up late, waking up at night and up early!) so then we have overtired and grumpy kids, not a real fun combination. My husband always thinks things will "go smoother this time" while I'm more realistic about what to expect. Hopefully this time it will be a little better.

I know what you mean about it not exactly being a "vacation" for you, but I hope it will still be a lot of fun to take the kids to all those places! I've been to Sea World in Florida, and I love it, and I've heard great things about the San Diego Zoo too. I haven't heard any firsthand accounts about LegoLand, so I'll be interested to hear what you think of it.

The little guy got sick today:( At least he waited until we were at the hotel and not on the plane. Then at 2:00 am this morning, he ran a fever again until it broke right before lunch. He refused to take his medicine, so I guess at least we know it went down on it's own. We moved to a different hotel yesterday-in the place we were staying earlier we were just tripping over each other! So while Chris and the girl are off to the beach, Jacob and I have been in the nice Marriot Residence Inn watching the Monkees. Not a bad way to spend the day, but I am hoping to make it to one major attraction while we're down here.

As much fun as it is to watch The Monkees, you didn't go all the way to San Diego to do something you could have done in your own living room, after all! I remember two years ago my older son got sick while we were on a five-day/four-night vacation in Orlando, Florida. He and I spent one whole day in a medical clinic (mostly in the waiting room where we sat through at least 2 full showings of Monsters Inc before he finally got to see the doctor!) while my husband and my other son had fun at one of the Universal Studios theme parks. Fortunately he was able to start antibiotic treatment almost immediately afterwards and the doctor said he should be able to go out and have fun the next day as long as he felt up to it. The medicine really did the trick, and the whole family was able to enjoy a great day at Sea World the next day and to fly home comfortably enough the day after that.

Chris and Heather will stay for a couple more days and at least go to the zoo and Sea World. It broke my heart having to leave her and I would have brought her home too if it wasn't for the fact that she was looking forward to doing a couple "fun things" which we hadn't been able to do. Also, between the tendonitis I already had before we left and general achiness from dealing with luggage and toting around a 35 lb. toddler (he wants to be held/carried when he doesn't feel well), my body is just done in. At least here I have my parents to help out and babysitters if I need a break. I'm exhausted, and looking very forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!

Hopefully you can get some rest and both you and JJ will feel better real soon. I'll bet Happi was glad to see you! Heather and Chris having some father/daughter time will do Chris some good. And I'm sure Heather will have lots of fun stories to tell when she gets home!! You should have her write about her adventures and post it here! That would be cool!! I did get him into see his own pediatrician this afternoon and she got him started on a chewable antibiotic (he flatly refused to take the liquid one). He was super tired tonight since he had an early nap on the plane and he's all off schedule. Hopefully between his own bed, the humidifier and the medicine we will both get a good night's sleep!

I hope both you and your son will be feeling better soon. If you have a mall near you, see if you have such a thing there called "Aqua Massage." It is the best massage in the entire world. It is done by all water jets that have the streams pulse on your body. It's the first "dry" wet massage. I had one the other day at the mall. 10 minutes is only $14.00 which, to me, is super cheap and the 10 minutes is supposed to equal 30 minutes of a hand massage. I would recommend it to anyone.
