Last night's idol was interesting. I can't believe David A. forgot his lyrics!! He really bombed big time! Ramiele's "In My Life" was boring but it's not meant to be a "big" song. I agree with Kari. Those she mentioned were definitely the best. I really liked Brooke and David Cook. I think Kristy Lee Cook might be going.

Heh, I had that same thought about the girl, like she's this years Sanjaya, with the hair.
The results night was a wierd one. Jim Carrey around and then a little Q & A....they are trying to put some variety in it, maybe???? So has the lineup of mentors been made known yet? So I guess it was Randy who did a cd, and Paula and some others were on it, some of the past contestants. Simon is going to be on Oprah this coming Monday, that interview should prove interesting....

I really think David H. went because of the scandal. He was better than some of them still there. Oh well, I guess if you put yourself out there you better
be ready for whatever comes.

Any takers on who goes this week?
I didn't particularly like Michael John's take on "A Day In The Life". I agree with Simon in that it's too complex of a song to tackle in under two minutes. I didn't exactly "get" Chikezie's performance either. I don't think he performed badly necessarily, I just don't think the arrangement made a lot of sense to me. Shane

Although not a Beatles fan myself, I always loved Here Comes The Sun. But last night I didn't like it at all. I guess it had to be a Beatle singing it,
Paul wasn't it? It's too bad I don't have the record to listen to, to make me like the song again.

I didn't really like any of the performances last night except David Cook. I think Kristy Lee Cook might be going because she is always in the bottom 3
but then again I thought that weeks ago too and she's still there!

Beatles 2 weeks in a row...no one really stands out much yet, does it seem like they don't know the music too well? A crazy thing to say perhaps but are
they too young for their music?? Yet they do seem to know songs from other time periods and groups after the Beatles...

think Amanda would go after her little speech after her performance Tuesday. Still, I didn't think she'd last a heck of a lot longer.

Thanks. I guess I never knew who sang Here Comes The Sun. I just heard it, I never had the record. I was never really aware of what each Beatle sounded
like. I think the only Beatles record I have is Sally G. - for obvious reasons.
 And actually it is an Apple record by only Paul.

Ramiele has dodged one too many bullets. This week she goes, thinks I. Her performance of Heart's "Alone" didn't have the force behind it
that it really needed. It didn't help that she lost her voice, or was sick, or whatever.
I really liked David Cook's rendition of "Billie Jean". Inspired stuff there. I am still not a Kristy Lee Cook fan, but her choice of "God Bless The USA" was pretty clever. It's hard to dislike anybody who can at least sing it reasonably well. It's such an emotionally charged song, particularly in the current political climate, that disliking it would almost seem un-American to some. I think she'll be around for another week, though she's not the strongest candidate in the bunch, either. Shane

I think Kristy Lee Cook is pretty good. She has a good voice for country. Michael Johns was good but David Cook was the best. I thought David Archuleta was
awful. What the heck was that song he chose? I never even heard it before. I actually agreed with Simon about David A. Brooke is not really meant for idol.
She seems more like a folk singer. I do like her though. The rest were basically forgettable.

I thought the one they got rid of (I won't even try to spell his name) was the right one. But I didn't think the other two belonged in the bottom
three. The hair is horrible, but the girl can really sing. I am not impressed with the dreads, but the guy is cute. At least we will get to hear them all
sing again. I'm with Simon that the choice of songs makes a world of difference.

To me, the guy with the dreds seems to be too...something....too laid back?? A few times already he has been sitting behind the mike with his guitar, and then
quietly singing...I dunno, is he afraid of the audience?
I agree, the song for Archuleta was not a good one for him. An' I agree that Kristie Lee Cook singing God Bless the USA most definitely kept her in for another week. I was rollin' my eyes, thinking 'well this one will be sticking around for another week'. But generally I don't think she'll last too much longer. Brooke is quite good imo...she reminds me of Carly Simon a little, I mean, at the piano and all that, and her voice IS pretty good. The take on Billie Jean was fantastic, and that's what they look for, isn't it? Putting your own spin on a song. He'll probably be one who will be around for most of it, if not all I bet.

She has the whole Jewel/Cheryl Crow folky acoustic vibe going, and it's hard for me to think of her succeeding big time in a market that's already saturated with that kind of act. She's talented--no doubt about it, I just have yet to see something that truly makes her unique from all the others. Shane

For me as sucky as TV is over here, I for one do not miss the annual drama of American Idol. For me that's one of the benefits of living overseas on the

Well Remiele is gone. I kind of figured it would be her. I think it's going to come down to the two Davids and Michael Johns. It's the year of the
guys. I think the only girl that will get close is Carly Smithson.

I think you're right, Jill. It's kind of funny how one year it skews towards the gals and the next year the guys.
I owe one of my coworkers another quarter this week. He's picked right three weeks in a row. I would have picked Ramiele myself, but he had first choice this week. Thank goodness we're only betting a quarter a week, or I'd be in the poorhouse by now. Shane

You know I like David A. but he's so young I don't really see him becoming the kind of American Idol they are looking for. Give him to the
Nickelodeon/Disney set and give us David Cook or Carly.
