I'll have to watch "Dance, Monkees, Dance" again to see if Miss Buntwell says that, but I was thinking of a different female character (hint) in a different first season episode (hint #2). So here's the same quote again: "Oh, what a smart question!"

I'm glad you figured that out, Nora. I tried to watch "Dance, Monkees, Dance" last night but was so tired I fell asleep in the middle of the episode! I did notice that Miss Buntwell and that nurse have a similarly whiny quality to the way they talk, so that may be what threw you.
