I'm 42-years-old (just last week!), I'm happily married, and I'm the mother of two, an 18-year-old son who is about to go off to college, and a nearly 11-year-old daughter who is about to start middle school. Said 10-year-old daughter loves to watch the Monkees with me (we watch the episodes on Comcast's "On Demand"), and she is crazy about Micky, who has always been my favorite Monkee, too. We quote passages from the show to each other and giggle while my husband wonders what we're talking about, LOL. Also, she has a Webkinz monkey named...you guessed it...Micky. Micky goes just about everywhere with her.
I was absolutely obsessed with the Monkees when I was about 11 (the mid-1970s reruns). I recently rediscovered my love for the show and the music when I found the episodes on "On Demand". I've already bought four of their albums, and I plan to buy the DVD set very soon. I didn't really know what had happened to the guys in the four decades since the show ended (though I knew Micky had been a DJ in New York), so I started surfing the net looking for information. That's how I came across Monkeeland.
As I said, Micky is definitely my favorite, and I bought his autobiography last Christmas, so I'm usually lurking in his thread. I've been wanting to post for a while, and I finally did.
Thanks for having me, and I look forward to participating rather than lurking!
