Well I first learned of Monkeeland from my friend Lisa from Yahoo Dreamworld. I was browsing her private fanfiction sites and just loved her stories. When I wrote to her about them, she told me about Dreamworld and about the Monkeeland site. Thank you my friend Lisa for inviting me to such a beautiful website.  to you.

Whew, there are many of us replying to this one! All good of course! The more the merrier. I'd say that since I came on there have been over a hundred more
joining the board! I think I was #595 or something like that.
It was in June-July of '06 when I heard about it. There was a radio station on the web that was a Monkee marathon of their music in that 40th year - I think it was broadcast June 6th? One thing leads to another, and I found Monkeeland and thought, Ah-hah, THERE they all are, the fans. Of course then I signed up. This has been the most up to date place one can go imho for just about anything that has to do with the guys. I like this board because it is quite truthful and quite accurate. And of course I have also had the good luck to have met several of you at concerts they've been in, and can't forget about the "Hershey Kisses"!  I'll probably be a poster/lurker for a long time.

Boy that's a good list of musicians - Tom Petty, Michael Jackson, R.E.M., the Beatles, Mellencamp, Kiss, and who knows who. And does this station do like
24-hr marathons on all these people?

It's a case of feast or famine. Not only was there the WBWC Monkeethon in June of '06, but XM did their own 15 hour Monkees special later that same
summer, as well. We should maybe pull out some of LMBt's transcripts from the WBWC show just for fun, and I know I've got the XM playlist archived here
too, somewhere.
There haven't been any big retrospectives that I've heard of since then. Tis a shame, with the Rhino 2 disc editions of the first four albums out, there's some cool mixes and stuff that would be neat to hear on the radio. Shane

I first found Monkeeland around a year or so ago....maybe two..I can't rememer...*giggles*....when I
decided to do a search on Davy I was kinda bored and in one of those "I wonder where he is now" kinda moods....I initially found a slew of fan
sites.....and the first pics I saw were some of those poolside photos from the 80's...you know..the speedoes....and I thought to myself
'ooooohhkay...that's more than I wanted to see!' LOL.....
And I eventually found Monkeeland through a link....and lurked for a bit....and was very impressed by the way it looks...and how it is run....not to mention the fact that it has David's stamp of approval..."this site is authorized by Davy Jones"....that pretty much sold me on it!!! 
And, lo' after all these years I am "in love" with him....all over again!! And I am so happy to have met so many great people here.....Monkeelanders ROCK!! |

That kind of confused me,though,when I first joined Monkeeland back in 2005. I was wondering back then how Davy could authorize this site when he was never at
this site. I remember people asking if any of the four Monkees ever visited here and one of the Mods said that none of the Monkees ever visited to their
knowledge. So,I just took it that one of the Mods who knew Davy told him about this site and he probably said "Sounds great" and that was that.

Back in late 2007, while reading transcripts from Micky's radio show, I saw that he mentioned Monkeeland.
And then, while doing a search for more information about him and the other guys, I actually found it! Lurked here for a while and finally joined.

That's what I thought,Shane. I remember a Mod saying that to their knowledge,no Monkee has ever visited here. As for the Monkees knowing about a website
devoted to them and they would visit because of that,I don't know. I figure there are hundreds of thousands of websites devoted to the Beatles and the
Rolling Stones,but Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney probably can't be bothered with going there.
It would be nice if one of the Monkees would actually pop in and say a quick "Hello".

J. K. Rowling has actually visited some of the websites which are devoted to Harry Potter. On her own website, she has told the story of getting involved in a
discussion on one of the boards on Mugglenet, and of putting forth some theories as to what was going to happen (this was before the 6th book came out)--and
being told that she didn't know what she was talking about!

I CAN divulge that one Monkee HAS personally been here and read topics in his forum...but I'm sworn to secrecy and I can NOT tell you which one. I
don't know if he comes by now or if he reads anything now, but I do one that one of them has definitely been here.
