Sadly, he didn't win. But that's alright. He appreicates everyone who took time out for him. Here he is resting on his favorite chair. Seriously, it really is his chair. Bubby has been going through a rough time these past c ouple of weeks. At 16 (or 82 in cats years), he's becoming more and more like grumpy old senior citizen. He was having constipation issues again. Now he's losing his teeth, has ulcers in his mouth, drooling and bleeding at the gum lines. He's on meds to take care of all that now. Here is Miss Lily catching a few zzzzzzz's on her couch in the kitty reading room. Silly girl! And when I had 9 gerbils running around in their exercise balls plus cats, that was a not a good thing. So now, I always tape the lids shut with masking tape. Oh I go through so many boxes with the gerbies! But it keeps them occupied. I know when they start digging in the corner of their tank, that they are bored. Thanx El!

But he's hanging in there. At least now he comes to me to ask me to please wipe his face. And when he was constipated, I would always ask him if he make poopie. I'd ask him to please try for me and he would. He proceed to walk to where the cat boxes are, stepped in the open box and showed me that he still wasn't able to poop. So that's how I knew he still couldn't poop. He's doing better, but is still on meds to help make him not be constipated. His doctor says he has a "megacolon".

Posts: 42 (04/23/08 1:45 PM) Sigarette Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	aww...I just your beautiful kitties...and I know what you have been going through with the elder statesman of the bunch...my own cat just turned 13....and she's had a lot of trouble keeping food down...so I took her to the vet and they checked her out from top to bottom and determined that she has an irritable bowel disorder...so for a few days I had her on a bland diet of boiled chicken or beef...ugh..she did not go for that at all!...Turned her nose up. Finally I was able to put her back on her usual diet...but she began getting sick again...so another consultation with the vet. And we have her on a new diet which she seems to be thriving on....thank goodness....for anyone who has purchased pet food at your vet's office...you know how pricey it is. I was really wary because I know how finicky Isadora is...but she loves it.. it's a limited ingredient food with green peas and duck...(at $30.50 for an 8lb bag...thank heavens she likes it! ) Luckily she is still in pretty good overall health....I know it'll happen someday but I'm dreading when she gets really up there and well.....you know.

Oh believe me, I know all too well about how pricey things are at the vet. I spent $5.00 dollars for two cans of wet food a few months ago. Insane, isn't it? And Bubby wasn't having anything to do with that food. Neither were Milo or Lily. They all said the food sucked. That's good that Isadora likes her food. Can you post a picture of her? I'd love to see her! My Rockey lived to be 17. Bless his little soul. It was thee hardest choice to hafta say "goodbye" to him. He'll be gone now for four years this coming August. And sadly, I'm afraid to say that Bubby won't be with us much longer. I'll be surprised if he makes it to his 17th birthday in September. Last Edited By: cindycinnamon 04/28/08 12:56 PM. He just wasn't ready to leave his body. Your Cinder is beautiful. I told Bubby what you said and he wanted me to let you know he appreciates your concern. He gave a hard time a few minutes ago with taking his medicine. He was actually fighting me and then refused to eat. He's being stubborn. Here is a picture of him taken last night. He's losing weight.

I read to Bubby what you posted and told me he would try to take his medicine alittle better from now on. And thank you for keeping us in your heart and prayers. right back at cha! Here is an early picture of Bubby-he was three years old... Here he is at five. Can you tell he doesn't want his picture taken? He's telling me to go away. LOL! His hair now is a bit ruffled and he's not much into cleaning himself anymore. Wheich means he tends to get alot of mats around his back legs. And now that he is taking tow kinds of liquid medication, sometimes, it doesn't all get into his mouth, but rather on his chest. So he's been getting a washcloth bath every night to clean the medicine off his hair. I mean fur. Yesterday and today he's had really good days-eating, being alert and very vocal.

He's alert and all, but moving around quite slowly. He's not pooping alot and his mouth, gums and lip bleed. His lip bleeds because he usually manages to bite it when Lee is giving Bubby his lactulose (liquid medicine to help him poop). Lee and I have been seriously thinkin of our options here in regards to Bubby. I dunno, he's thinkin that maybe Bubby's teeth need to be cleaned and or pulled and that might help Bub eat better. I'm thinkin about Bubby's quality of life (lee's in denial about that). He said he was gonna call Dr. Temple on Monday to see what she thinks. Bubby does seem to perk up a bit after getting fluids under his skin, though.... Here are a few pictures of Bubby from this week. And after the fluids That big bulge on his arm is the fluids.
