I heard by Memorial Day it will be much higher. Money hungry robbers! Pretty soon, we'll all be confined to our houses cause no one will be able to drive
their cars, and in bigger cities where you are too afraid to take public transportation, it's a loss-loss situation. *blah*

I shake my head at the news when people are complaining like crazy about the price of gasoline, but they mention that it still won't stop them from going on
long vacations this summer and dropping several hundred dollars into the gas tank of their SUV or RV. Seems to me like they are double-standarding themselves.
They complain about one thing, but still do the thing they are complaining about.
Our plans for Memorial Day involve a cook-out at home in our yard.

I have to read at Church that Sunday, Ray. That is what I'll be doing.

I know what you mean,Cheri. With gas prices the way they are at this time, our vacation plans are off. We had planned to take a trip to Vermont this July, but
there's no way we could afford to do it.

Our prices right now are around $4.00! People really should try to curtail some of their driving but I think that many don't want to change their ways. My
own son drives around way too much. I understand that teenage boys like to drive around but he uses all the money he makes on gas! I personally am spending a
lot more time at home and I really don't mind it. I am fortunate that my job is only 3 miles from my home!

It seems like every two to four days pass and then gasoline goes up again. This is getting ridiculous.

Gas prices here in Marietta are $3.65. I had six gallons of gas left in my tank and filled up last night. Cost me a whopping $44.00! If I had the cash, I would
have drove down the road a ways to the Race Trac or Quick Trip where they are selling gas at $3.58.
Between gas and grocery prices goin up these days, looks like I won't be driving and we won't be eating very well......... Actually, I've been making casseroles which last me and Lee a few days. I bought 28 everyday items at Kroger last week (milk, bread, cereal, lunch meat, water, etc) and it cost me over $50.00 dollars!

There's a Community Market nearby and it's fairly big and they have some pretty reasonable groceries, although we can still feel the pinch of the
increase. The only thing we really cut way down on is the fruit, which has almost doubled in price. Bananas are now 60 cents a pound, where they were 29 cents a
pound 6 months ago. Grapes are now $3 a pound where they were $1.19 six months ago.

Does anyone have an Aldi's in their neighborhood. They are reasonably priced too. Although, I absolutely hate going there because the cashiers throw
everything in the cart after scanning it quickly and then you have to bag your own groceries. The checkout line feels like a derby race. I don't go there
that often just for that reason alone.
I'm pretty bad and I eat fast food frequently at times, or sometimes at home my dinner will consist of a Coca-Cola and two spoonfuls of peanut butter, depending on how much I can afford. I know it's bad for me, but you do what you have to do. *HUGS* to everyone here. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers during this time of feast or famine. Love always, Cheri |

Ray, I am so sorry about your vacation to Vermont being cancelled. I know it's going to be so rough now for everyone
Mare, I'm sorry your gas is so high already. I'm part of Flylady.net as a flybaby and she suggests doing all your errands on one day, which I think makes a lot of since. Then you can stay home the rest of the time, if possible, besides for working. Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's here including us mom's with furbabies. We count too! I want to share a beautiful story with everyone that happened to me this afternoon. My mother and I met for lunch and then went shopping at Ulta 3 (a makeup store) and this woman in the next aisle from us sneezed and when I told her 'bless you,' she walked around to the aisle we were in and gave me a coupon for $3.50 cents off my purchase as a 'thank you' and 'happy mother's day'. I was so shocked. I thanked her numerous times. She was such a sweet person. And she did that just because I took the initiative to say 'bless you' when she sneezed. It absolutely warmed my heart having that happened to me. I tried to give her coupon back, but she insisted I keep it since she had another one for herself. She gave me a big hug as well. My mother and I were truly touched. I just wanted to share Love always, Cheri |

We were gonna go to Vermont this summer 'cause my uncle and his wife had a baby girl in March and we wanted to go up and visit. It's been almost 8
years since we saw uncle Tim last.

Oops, I forgot that there are a few Aldi's here, too. I'd shop there, but they only accect cash as payment where as I always pay by check. Just easier
for me. Plus, I never have time to make it to the bank before it closes.
When I lived in Illinois, I used to shop at Aldi all the time in between going to Jewel (which was right behind where I lived).

Most shops don't take cheques anymore so I tend to carry cash always. I don't really like Aldi it's a bit too much of a free-for-all and they
rarely have something I like. Tesco do some good cheap stuff.

I love Aldi. I first saw it in Ohio a decade ago and now they are here in GA. I do go with a wad of cash though and load up mostly on canned goods. It is
amazing that one person can run that grocery store (smaller in size compared to many around here).
Same for us, Ray, cancelled trip due to high costs in general. We weren't going too far, into the mountains about 3 or 4 hrs away, but nixed that plan for now. Oh well. I have been driving a bit slower when I can on the interstate to save $$. That is a nice mention, Cheri. |

My car is pretty much the only one in the family that gets good mileage. I get 25 miles to the gallon. Chrissy's car gets 20 and my Dad's jeep gets 16.
