IYRKM, you would know that I am really into the Harry Potter books and films, and I'm a huge Beatles fan (but I loved the Monkees first

IYRKM.......You'd know that I love to play Nintendo DS. The PS2 is always fun to play with the kids, but the DS can't be beat for solo.

IYRKM..
I'm very shy, I hardly speak to anyone. I hardly socialize with people. Nora and I are only 2 hours away from one another! "It's a small matter, I tell you. Why do you worry?"

Well you two aren't alone! Most of my life I have been considered shy and quiet. It's nice to have the internet to meet people. And there is nothing
wrong with it either- we can't all be extroverted like Micky, right?

I sat here reading these and I thought who in the heck is IYRKM. LOL!
Well, if you really knew me, you would know that I, too, am extremely shy. I do not like new situations and I get physically sick if I have to go to new places and meet new people. I also have an intense fear of heights. Nothing wrong with meeting people online Mare. My internet life is much more exciting than my personal life. |

Writer2Be2007 wrote:I wasn't sure if you'd figured it out yet or not, Cheri, so just in case: IYRKM = If You Really Knew Me I have trouble with some of the "alphabet soup" acronyms that get thrown about so much online too, and I've learned not to be afraid to ask if I can't figure something out. I may have posted this here once already, but if you really knew me, you'd know that my favorite books to read are children's books. I mostly read middle to upper grades fiction (novels geared towards 9-14-year-olds), but I also love picture books, I-Can-Read books, fiction for younger readers (1st - 3rd grade level), non-fiction, folktales and poetry geared towards young readers, etc. When I was working as a children's librarian for a public library, people assumed that I read those books for professional reasons -- and I did to some extent, but the truth is that that's putting the cart before the horse! I have always enjoyed reading children's books (ever since I was a child myself) and just never stopped, and that is one of the reasons why
I became a children's librarian in the first place!

I might read them myself just for fun. It must have been a rewarding job being a children's librarian. It sounds like fun. |

IYRKM...
you'd know that I think "The Beverly Hillbillies" is absolutely hilarious and the perfect "hot summer weather" show, outside of the Monkees, of course. ...you'd know that I really like libraries and research. So much so that I made my daughter go to the library for a book on toucans for a report that she's doing, rather than go online. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I used to read a couple of chapters at night of R.L. Stein's Goosebumps to my son when he was growing up. That was our special time before I put him to
bed. He's a great writer! Even I enjoyed reading his books and couldn't wait to turn the page to find out the rest of the story.

Nope, that's a toucan. Toucan Sam, to be precise. And yes, I meant Froot Loops. That's how the cereal is spelled, believe it or not.

I think it's so funny how the subject is changing from one thing to another around here! And Froot Loops are good!
BTW, Shane I just finally finished reading Duma Key today and believe it or not I cried near the end for the loss of a main character. I can't say any names in case I spoil it for others. I get so involved with the characters that they become real to me. That is what I love about Stephen King. My daughter says he describes things too much and for too long in the beginning of a book but I disagree! It was a good book! Mare |
