My backorder at the bookstore came in today! This is the book that the Johnny Depp movie that's been filming here in Wisconsin that I've been going so ga-ga over lately is based on. Public Enemies--Bryan Burrough It looks like the book delves into a lot more than Dillinger's history, though. There's specific sections on Bonnie and Clyde, the Barker clan, Baby Face Nelson and more. And of course, J. Edgar Hoover, Melvin Purvis, and the beginnings of the FBI. Looks like an interesting and exhaustive read. Shane Keep an eye out for Public Enemies!

Also, I have two non-fiction books I am sifting through to educate myself. One is the Complete Idiot's Guide to Catholicism and the other is a knitting manual called "Stitch'n B****". Not the nicest title in the world, but the book is interesting. But I'm definitely favoring Jericho right now. O:-) Merry

Am now thinking about rereading Robert Rankin's Hollow Chocolate Bunnies..awesome book. It's all been rereads for me recently, nothing i've seen really grabbed my interest unfortunately. Although I did read some chapters of William Shatner's autobiography in Waterstone's today.

I was so engrossed in it that I got through all 757 pages in just a few days! I found the ending satisfying, but there were so many emotional and perilous twists and turns throughout the story that I felt like my stomach kept getting tied up in knots every couple of chapters! I haven't really had time to get into another book since then yet.

It also goes into great detail about the history of baseball in the city of Philadelphia, and it gives a great summation about the history of the city itself. I'm a sucker for baseball and American history! -Tom

Also A New Earth. Another good one. Oprah had this big thing in March & April on her website, a weekly Monday night class on A New Earth I guess, in which the author was present with her. I did not participate though, did you? I recently read the book about Valleri Bertinelli too. Been into bios lately.......Also some historical bios... Been reading about the House of Windsor, and separate bios on King Edward about the abdication. The entire Royal family has always interested me. Read a book called the Day Diana Died by that guy Andrew Morton, lately too. Rachael

I'm just finishing up Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. I like reading in the mornings on the bus and before work, so I don't want anything really heavy or confusing, so I'm putting off Catch-22 yet again, it seems. Just too many characters to keep track of. I'm only on the fourth chapter or so, and I already can't keep track of them all. I might have to go check out the thrift shops for some good books! -

I have always been looking for ways to become more spiritual. Eckhart Tolle is so quiet and mild though. I can't believe he can be that peaceful all the time! My sister is a huge fan of Valerie Bertinelli. I know she was going to read her book. Was it good? Did you know she is going to have her own talk show? That was a surprise to me. I get into reading bios myself at times. They are a lot of fun.

There was also some talk about Van Halen, naturally, her being married to Eddie for so long....no, I didn't hear of her doing a talk show. These books by Tolle are quite illuminating, aren't they? I am one who has studied astrology, spirituality, Zen, and many other concepts....this world is so dense, this physical reality we call home. It is only a very small part of what's real and what isn't. And when one uses their spiritual consciousness, it will absolutely change their perception of themselves and the world/people around them.
