don't act like a pedophile (haha) then they're good. I'm always really careful though.

I have a few old classmates on my friend list. I also found my best friend from childhood on myspace. We lost touch years ago. It's interesting, for sure. |

After setting up my page and then getting hacked into, I decided it was best to set the controls for my approval. This way, I can first see what and who is
real and what is not. And if one of my "friends" get hacked, I'm sure to email them to let them know that they need to change their password.

I just discovered how to put up one of those music playlists on my page....the page started out being sorta Monkee-like, then 2 of my sons and some of their
friends I know are all 'friends' as well.....
Just Tues on Frontline on PBS, the show was about teen online social networks and the whole privacy thing. One girl who was a wallflower in RL got real popular online in the goth community, till her parents got wind. Seems as if there were some pics she put on there that could be seen as racy by some, even though her intention was not that way. They made her delete, but when she became of age she put it up again. Seems she was at a loss in RL as before. And now her parents got used to it, are cool with it. Then there was a segment that was heartbreaking about a teen boy who committed suicide and his father found the online friend who the boy talked to about it all. So unfair sometimes, this that happens - the father called the boy & his father both, just to talk, get some closure like, but the report says he laft messages and never got any call backs. I think it is really just a mixed bag that one can experience. Just being careful is what is almost required is all.

It's sad to hear these things.
I also hate online bullying. I am so grateful that we didn't have this when I was in high school. Some of my friends used the internet, but it wasn't the big thing it's become and most people didn't talk about it. I actually never used it myself until about 1997 or 1998. I tried to avoid it up to that point. On a happier note, I love the playlists that you can put on myspace. I change up the songs now and then, but my favorites usually stay on. I also love the YouTube playlists. It is much more convenient to put all your favorite videos in one place instead of all over the page. |
