Oh, I remember VBS Nora. I attended that every year when I was a kid. Every year there was a particular theme that we based VBS on. One year was being good
samaritans, and our job as a class was to decide how we could be samaritans to our community. We decided to do a free car wash in the church parking lot for
people driving by in the neighborhood. The day we did that, so many people were floored that we were just giving car washes away and not charging anything.
Many people just gave us donations anyway, which we decided as a class to give as a part of the church offering on Sunday. Our pastor was so impressed that he
had everybody stand up in front of the congergation and get acknowledged for that. Nice little memory from my youth.

I have fun memories of VBS myself, so I guess that's part of the reason I don't mind helping out. This year we got a nice mix of volunteers, some of
the usual older folks, some of the younger parents who've been at the church for quite a while and also some people who are brand new. Our theme this year
is on "Serving".

Oh man, this afternoon I stubbed two toes on my left foot! Then after my husband came home he managed to step on the exact same two toes!
Not only that, but it was his night to be responsible for dinner so he picked up Boston Market, and he managed to get home everyone else's dinner but mine!
I think flowers might be in order...

VBS - I learned a knew acronym. I went once myself, just never knew the acronym or initialism or whatever it is.
Stopped in to say hi while being an insomniac  miss you guys ... I hope to catch up more some time very soon. Hot summer days ahead for us until September

Ray, there is already a good chunk of this thread in the archives. After the "Countdown" game went *poof*, there was some concern that this one
would, too. I'm not sure how many pages it was saved up until, though. Does anyone else sometimes just pick a random page from this thread to read? I do
that for kicks once in a while.

Just stopping by quickly as I'm packing and keeping a close eye on weather radar. (There were some strong storms that came through this morning, but
hopefully those will become more sparse as we go through the day.)
Please note that I updated the archive of this thread into the Hall Of Fame forum to reflect everything up until, and including, Nora's post above. Just an FYI that I will be unavailable for the next couple of days, so if anybody trys to get in touch with me, or has an admin. issue to bring to my attention, I probably won't get back to you until late Friday at the earliest. Nora,I know this thread is in the archives,but it was not updated past when Shane put it in the archives. I just wanted to see if Shane would include it up to 5,000 posts.
