Is anyone doing the Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) walk-a-thon this weekend? I'm walking from 8-9 pm tomorrow night (because of the
unpredictable June weather, I always try to get an evening slot as to not be out in the heat. However, it's only supposed to be in the low 80s for the
highs this weekend). Our team has someone walking during every slot in 24 hours-not bad!

I was talking to a good friend of mine named Jim Garvin,who used to be a wrestler back in the 1980s. Lucy would know who I'm talking about. Well,Jim just
had back surgery and he's off work until at least the end of July. I was telling him how hot it was here. He lives in Charlotte,North Carolina and he told
me that it was going to be 102 today. Yikes! He said the central air will be getting a workout.

Well, I've just gotton home from game night at my cousin's house. Her daughter (my second cousin) treated us to our all time favorite restuarant-IHOP
for dinner tonight. She didn't hafta do that, but she insisted. Afterwards, we went back to their house and played Cranium. Has anybody here played that
game?

I think I've played Cranium, but it's been a while.
I just got back a bit ago from the Relay For Life. Our town does it up really neat, almost like a carnival with games, booths, etc. In the morning there is a survivors walk and tonight all the luminarias were lit, and both events are quite moving. Two ladies I knew through "mommy" activities who were in there 40s died of cancer, and they are the main reason I do this. So ladies and gentlemen: fight cancer. There are lots of ways to do it: be active for 30 minutes a day, wear sunscreen and a hat, don't smoke, eat your fruits and veggies, volunteer to drive someone who's undergoing chemo to a treatment session or bring them a meal. That's how we fight this! |

Cancer doesn't pick on any particular age,race,religion or type of person. It can hit anybody.
