Well, my family was lucky in that besides my sister and brother-in-law, whose basement had to be totally gutted and redone, (the joys of home ownership),
nobody got hit very badly. The ground continues to be very saturated around here. It's been a very wet summer in a part of the country where we're
usually talking drought during the summer months. It doesn't take a whole lot when it rains to flood the streets, particularly if it rains hard for just a
few minutes. There are some residents, though, who are angry because just recently during a brief, heavy storm, their basements got flooded just as equally as
bad as before. There is some street construction going on nearby, and most people think that has something to do with it so they're crying foul at the
Public Works Department.
Most of the trash and junk that was left for pickup during the big flooding in June has finally been picked up off people's curbs, so that's finally good to see. That was becoming an eyesore. What's on people's minds now is the EAA. Oshkosh's big deal of the summer; a yearly airplane mega-convention that draws hundreds of thousands of people to our city over the course of a week. It's coming up very shortly, and there's always worry about how the weather will impact our local tourism/economy if Ma Nature decides to get nasty during that week. EAA is really our city's bread and butter. A lot of our local busninesses depend on it, particularly lodging and restaurants. The Depp movie was nice, but this is Oshkosh's big money maker. Shane

Hey Cindy!
What relative of yours works in Galena? My Mom, stepdad and I are beginning to plan another trip there this fall. We had such a good time there last year that we wanted to do it again, and maybe spend some extra time to take a trolley ride and maybe tour Grant's home 'n stuff. Some of the restaurants there are certainly worth a second visit. Shane

Not me, and I'm not so sure I'd want to, honestly. I like to watch movies for the same reason I like to watch "The Monkees"- for relaxation
and escapism. Somehow I doubt that movie provides either. I so seldom get to see movies that when I do, I just want to go have fun. So my next movie will
likely be "Mama Mia".

Entertainment news is saying the movie broke a lot of records, lines down the block to get in even, over the weekend. And if the people found it sold out, then
they went to a different movie instead. Mama Mia was 2nd in box office receipts.
