so i'm totally copying the other post.
what are everyone's most favorite funny moments from the show? this is going to be hard i know. but some that stand out to me are the too many girls
episode when they are doing their skits on the variety show. they are all pretty funny but i love it when peter says "notice my fingers never leave my
hands" and then the look on his face when he pops the bird in the bag. it gets me EVERY time!

The rope ladder scene in "Art, For Monkees Sake" always cracks me up. In fact, that ep has a lot of great gags--"Mission: Ridiculous" and
Mike's voiceover, Micky and Peter meowing as cat burglars.

Oh, there were so many funny lines and funny physical stunts that you almost have to have 2 threads!
For the physical comedy there are a few that make me laugh every time I see them, even though I've viewed them hundreds of times: 1. The aforementioned match-blowing with Mike and Micky 2. Micky's great (and I believe, unplanned) slip'n'slide as he brought the glass of water to Mrs. Purdy in "Gifthorse". 3. Micky swallowing the birdie in "One Man Shy" I'll have to think of the funny lines later!    |

So many great, funny scenes that I love have already been mentioned!
Another few bits that immediately come to mind are:
1) the "psychological warfare" scene in "Monkees Chow Mein" 2) The whole "Nom Myo Horeng-ke Kyo" (sp?) bit from "Mijacogeo/The Frodis Caper" and 3) From "Monkees In Texas," the exchange when Ben Cartwheel tells Davy to water his horse: DAVY: Water your horse? I'm not a stable boy! I'm sure I'll be able to think of more as time goes by too. Btw, no need to feel bad about "copying" the other thread, lizzykate -- this is a great topic! In fact, I seem to remember another thread about this topic a while back. I'll try to see if I can find it later and link it here. |

I've got so many, but to name a couple:
1) "Billy Roy Hodstetter's" performance in "Too Many Girls" 2) Davy's, "You're nothing but a pompous windbag, a funk, and a pony!" line in "The Prince and the Paupers" 3) And, Micky and Mike's "fight" to distract the guards in "Son of a Gypsy". The way Mike "punches", and his delivery of "The jig is up!" line is just priceless...lol!

And the whole scene in "Success Story" where all the people the Monkees have "borrowed" things from (Rolls Royce owner, Italian chef, etc.)
come back for their things and Micky and Mike are trying to hide behind frying pans and explain everything. That gets me rolling every time!

One of my many favorites (not already mentioned here) is in Monstrous Monkee Mash when Mike is going down the stairs to the dungeon and realizes Micky
isn't with him. Also when he falls down the same stairs.
Also, in Monkees On The Line, the entire scene with Mike in Ellen Farnsby's apartment when he's trying to stop her from killing herself....when they run around the table and she stops real fast......and when the phone rings and she answers it and says "It's for you." The look on her face is hysterical. Then at the end of the scene when he asks her to "Promise me one thing" and she replies "Anything....as long as it hurts." His reaction is great.  Smashing, Simply

Slightly off topic...
My daughter (she's nearly 11) and I were watching "Hitting the High Seas" today. I had forgotten that Micky did the voice of the parrot. She listened to the parrot for 10 seconds and exclaimed, "That's Micky!" She has a good ear (plus she loves Micky).
On topic: "Grovel, grovel!" "No, not grovel, it's concrete tile." Mike and the whole "groovy-looking chick" thing about himself! "They also have insufferable tortures here on earth. Whenever a pussycat cries, they tear off its head. Then they holler in its ear! Then they put the head back on the body, I don't know how it stays alive!"  I don't know how Davy, Peter and the crew kept straight faces.

Davy's "How" line and Mike & Peter's reactions to it in "The Monkees Paw". You could tell Davy had already been cracking up
before he said the line.....I would love to have seen the takes right before that one.
In "Monkee See, Monkee Die" when they're in the bedroom and Mike's putting the bones on the floor to summon a St. Bernard - his line "Come on big fella!" always makes me laugh. One of my favorite tags: Mike: You know what I've always wanted to do? Was get a Rolls Royce, and put little bitty tires on the front, and big slicks on the back, and put a pickup bed in the the trunk, and all paint you know and stuff like that, and take the hood off of it an' everything, paint a name on the back of it... Rafelson: And drive where? Mike: Drive where? Drive no place, drive it out on the freeway and give it a flat tire and stand there scratching your head. (his expressions make it funnier.)
