What do the Monkees fans on this board think of the music on the "Changes" album. I never heard any of the music from this album. In fact, I never
knew they made this record until I saw it at a bargain music store for $1.99 in Boston back in the 90s. I didn't purchase it because I don't own a
record player. So I was just wondering what the general consensus thought of it.

"Changes" is what it is;a contractual obligation filled by Micky and David. I like it,though, even though it is a very strong dose of bubblegum as
compared to the earlier Monkees music. Some of Davids vocals are superb,as are some of Micky's. "You're So Good To Me","I Never Thought
It Peculiar","99 Pounds" and "Oh My My" are among my favorites from that album. "99 Pounds" was actually recorded in 1967
and was pulled out of the can for this album. But the absence of Mike and Peter is very very obvious.
In the liner notes of the "Changes" CD,David refuses to comment on that album because he does not like it at all. On a side note, the front cover of "Changes" is from the three Monkees appearance on "The Joey Bishop Show" in April 1969 and Mike was airbrushed out of the photo for the cover. The back of the album was taken from a Kool-Aid commercial with all three Monkees from 1969. If you do decide to get the "Changes" CD,take it for what it is.

It's not a favorite album of mine, to be honest with you. From a historical standpoint, Changes is kind of interesting, and if you're a diehard
collector, it's an absolute must have. But the music itself is rather forgettable. It's the earlier songs that were left in the can like "99
Pounds" and "I Never Thought It Peculiar" that made it's way onto the album that I find the most interesting and reminiscent of the Monkees
"sound" I know and love. I can take or leave the rest of it.

Would the powers-that-be have been able to get away with the songs they picked for that album if Mike and Peter were still there? Not a chance.

According to Wikipedia, the album pressings were limited and are hard to find today. Another thing I found interesting was almost all of the songs from
Changes, except for two, were dubbed into the CBS reruns during 1970-72. Even with that, the album still didn't go anywhere.

I admit that I actually enjoyed a lot of the music on the Changes album, but I haven't listened to it in years. One of these days I'll have to pop it
back in.

I used to have the Colgems "Changes" and it did have some good songs while others were just "Eh" I bought it while trying to decide between
it and the Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers"
Also It just wasnt right seeing only Micky& Davy on the cover but I bought it primarily to round out my collection. Sometimes I wished I bought the Stones album even though I wasnt really a Stones fan. but later I started collecting Nez Solo works starting with the FNB and the rest is history.

And let us not forget the music video for "Oh My My" made in 1970 and consists mainly of Micky & David riding motorcycles. To me,the town they
arrive at at the end of the video looks alot like the one used in the kool-aid commercial.

I like some of the songs on it. Especially "Oh My My" and "Do You Feel It To". I don't own it on cd because it was out of print by
the time I went to buy it, and the import was way too much $. I would buy it if was released as a deluxe edition-I'm still hoping for the rest of the
albums to come out. Amazon sells the mp3 album but I'd rather save the $12 and wait for a CD re-release--I love the packaging of the Deluxe cds.

When I first heard the Changes album (on a homemade tape as transferred from the LP by a fellow fan) sometime during the late 70s, I was so
disappointed in it that I put it away and didn't listen to it again for many years. In fact, I finally got a CD copy of it and listened to it again only
within the last few years. My current thoughts on it are that it definitely does not hold up to the standards set by The Monkees' earlier albums, but
it's not that bad, and there are a few pretty good songs on it. I also love some of the bonus tracks that are on the Rhino CD.
Peter, our thoughts and prayers are with you daily. We love you. Stay strong and "Hope On!"
