This was worth waking up early for. Now that we're officially into the holiday season, work is requiring OT from fulltimers until Christmas week. I put
myself down to work this morning for a few hours. Came in at 7, and was there for exactly an hour and a half before they asked if I wanted to go. Of course,
now I have time to do some things I didn't think I'd have the chance to do today, but I'm not crazy about waking up early on what would have
otherwise been a day off....

My husband finished putting up the outside lights/display yesterday. I'm not sure whether to be proud or embarassed. It looks like something that Mr.
Griswald and Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor ("Home Improvement") would come up with.

I spent all evening decking out my apartment in Christmas. All the knicknacks are out, the tree is put together and about half the lights are on. I'll finish trimming it tomorrow or Wednesday. That's a lot of work for one evening! There's a lot going on in my world this week, so I figured the earlier I can get this stuff done the better. Shane

Alright, Shane, I'll bug him about it!
I'm trying to get my place all decked out this week, but I was home for a grand total of one hour today between 8:45 and 5:15. Partly that was because we had to take the hamster to the vet since he'd had some indigestion (to put it politely) while we were gone. I chatted with Cindy Cinnamon (kind of ironic, because that's the hamster's name  ) and she advised me on what to do. So thanks, Cindy!  Cinnamon is taking his antibiotics real well.
The vet said that's the first one who hasn't tried to bite him and that my daughter is a "Hamster Whisperer".

Baking is well underway over here! Phew! My friend and I are baking up a storm for a bake/craft sale on Saturday, and making some extra to have on hand for
Christmas visitors. Tonight we made raspberry squares, pineapple log (which she took home to finish since I forgot to buy marshmallows!), fudge, and I made my
reverse chocolate chip cookie dough, and will bake the cookies tomorrow. The red and green chocolate I used is already making it look super festive! I
can't wait to bake them.
We worked quick.... all that in about 2 hours or so, after we went out for dinner and a grocery store run for supplies.

Hope all is well, everyone. I have been away a while, but hope to return to the fold here a bit more often. I have had better years, but given everything going
on, I think my family is doing OK overall. I didn't have a well functioning PC at home for a while, so that is part of the reason I was gone, but also just
a lot of things going on. Take care.

Okay, so I played hookey from church this morning. :shhh But I am listening to Christmas music, does that count?
I hate to miss services especially during Advent, but after a crazy week of vet, appointments, carpet cleaning, a semi-sick kid, and I constant barrage of "Mom!!!!", let alone trying to get all the decorations up, I just needed a break. Hee hee, if I were Catholic, this would have made a good confession! |

my toddler is asking for monkees sometimes we have the DVDs playing, but I put them away and cannot find them.

I don't blame you a bit, Nora. This week has been crazy busy for me, too. But I have all my decorating done, after an all day excursion to the mall on
Thursday about 90% of my shopping is done (and the other 10% is just a matter of taking the time to pick up what I need), and after I get the last of my online
friends' gifts mailed on Wednesday, all of my mailing will be done, too. That's a big chunk of work.
Then last night was my nephew Corey's 3rd birthday party. His actual birthday is the 23rd, but since that is so close to Christmas, we've always celebrated his birthday on the first weekend of December. So yesterday was a pretty busy day too, considering I worked 9 hours, as well. Today, for the first time in a long while I did something I haven't had a chance to do. Take a nap! I just got back from a holiday gathering with my uncle, aunt and cousin from Madison at a restaurant for dinner. I don't get the chance to visit with them too often, and it's been a few years since I've seen my cousin. For as much as I like the holiday season, it sure can be a very busy time of year! Shane

Well, just after I thought I'd have an easier week, the other kid woke up with a headache and stomachache (although I think it may have been nerves because
of an oral book report due today since she's made an awfully fast recovery), and I got in my van this morning to discover a big hole in one of the
backseats. I think a mouse must have gotten in there-gross! It actually snowed here this morning so it was awfully cold and I think the poor little thing was
trying to get warm. Fortunately I already had booked an exterminator to come today!

We had our first real snowfall yesterday, too. Several car accidents, too, which is surprising since in Central New York you'd think people would be used
to this (and by this I'm referring to the nuts who are tailgating in slippery conditions!). As much as I hate snow and winter, it was kinda pretty, and I
ALMOST felt that Christmas spirit come creeping in. Each year I'm finding it harder and harder to get into the spirit. Nearly had it this time though.
So long as the snow is gone by December 26th, though, I'm happy O:-)
