In July 1986 the Monkees came to Pittsburgh to play a great reunion concert. A friend of mine used to do Sound for alot of concerts in the area back then,so he got me tickets to come see that show and,thanks to him,I was able to hang out backstage with no trouble at all.
I was standing at a soda machine and had just put my change in it and pressed the "Nestea" button on the select menu,but nothing would come out. The machine just made a grinding noise,sort of taunting me that I'd wasted my money.
I said something under my breath and put my hands on my hips.
Then a voice behind me said calmly,"Hey,it's okay,man. Happens to me all the time".
Turning around to see who said this,I was face to face with Peter Tork,who had a huge grin on his face.
Peter got the machine to work for me with no problem when all he did was re-press the "Nestea" button,then he got one for himself.
We talked for about 10 or 15 minutes,then he excused himself to go start the concert. I can remember hearing Davy yelling,"Come on,Petah!" in his English accent.
