Keep up the Support.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is my hope as new folks join M'land that they will take some time and post something in support of the troops worldwide and at home.
These folks serve seflessly and voluntarily and seldom do they receive any appreciation for an extreme and difficult profession.
It doesnt matter if you support the war or you dont!
The point here is to share your support and news of those who you may or may not know in the service of our countries.
We have UK, Canadians, Aussies and some Western and Eastern European folks represented here at Monkeeland.
Feel free to post good things about your armed services too if you have a mind to.
I would also expand this forum to our fine Law Enforcement and Firefighters as well who also risk their lives daily in the the name of service.

I could not agree more about the law enforcement and fire fighters!! They're in the same proverbial boat with the military...too many hours, not enough pay and not enough appreciation for what they do.
I'm proud to say that my cousin, Brent Earley, is our local sheriff and my brother-in-law, Larry and his wife, Stephanie are both First Responders and work on the Warm Springs (Arkansas) Volunteer Fire Department.
Love,
Lucy

Absolutely! My Dad is a veteran who is really proud of his service. He was one of the lucky ones who wound up going elsewhere than Viet Nam during that controversial time in American history. He spent a great deal of time working as a medic in Germany, and the memories he has from that time I know are priceless to him.
I often find myself thinking a lot about all the men and women who have defended our country and lost their lives in the wake of everything that has happened during and since 9-11. It takes a special kind of person to forge headfirst into a dangerous situation and not think twice about it.
The whole world's a better place because of them.

My Dad served in WWII, and 2 of my nephews are in the service now. They are brothers...one was in Iraq from Jan '05 till Nov '05, he's in the Reserves. He was not around combat, his unit having to do with water treatment. The other one went into the service right out of h.s., volunteered. He was stationed at Washington DC at Arlington for a few years - his unit was there when the Pentagon got hit on 9/11. Days off his unit helped with, uh...cleanup...he said he did ok well enough during those days, but he said others in his unit ran out vomiting at the horrors they found within - body parts found under rubble!! Earlier this year, he was sent to Alaska, and in Sept he will be going overseas to Afghanistan - and his wife is pregnant, due in Feb. Please pray he will return safely.

Sending many prayers that all our soldiers return home safely where ever they may be. Stay Strong, Stay Safe and most of all, Come Home Soon.
Prayers also for the ones who won't be coming home again. God Bless and My Most Humble Heartfelt Thanks.
Prayers for all the families of the soldiers. May you be reunited soon with your loved ones.
GOD BLESS ALL OF OUR ARMED FORCES. PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. To you, we owe our Freedom, our Safety, our Lives.

I have all respect for those men and women who put themselves in harm's way to keep us from danger, no matter what service they have chosen.
I pray for their health and their safe return home always, and for the peace and comfort of their loved ones.

While the post office no longer accepts packages addressed to "Any Soldier", you can still adopt a soldier/unit!
Check out this site.
I'd suggest simply sending a LETTER first and actually getting to know some of the soldiers a bit before you actually send a package. Also, because of troop movements and such, you HAVE to check with the site the DAY you mail a letter/package, to make sure the address you have is still good.
THIS is the site I've been looking for!
Love,
Lucy
