I did a google search for Monkee pics and found about 586,000 pages so I thought I would throw this out for the group and ask which site offers the best
viewing of older monkee pics..............thanks in advance..g

Well, it kind of depends which era of pics you are looking for. Also a lot of thoses web-sites are no longer available.
http://coolcherrycream.com/monkees/ other wise known as Sunshine factory. Rhino is a good site. Psychjello is another(is's a site not for the senitve, there is swearing and a little fun being made of stuff, if you can't handle that stuff don't go there, they do have pics there) Also on Myspace.com People who post at like Davy's site, if you click on them they sometimes have their own pics up for you to view, but you have to be a member of Myspace to do that. I found one person had very unusal pics of Davy that they had taken back 20-30-40 years ago. It was cool and I e-mailed and told them. A lot of the sites have concert pics from various concerts recent and older stuff.

If you use Microsoft's Live.com and go to images and search Monkees, you will see some
great pix. And it displays the images much better than Google's image search.

It seems that some of our members have been surprisingly shy to plug their own sites, so I guess I'll have to do that for them.
Some people here may have websites that I don't know about, but two that I am aware of which have a lot of pictures are: The Monkees @ FashionState.Com by Monkeelander Molly Divoon (Molly's never been shy about plugging her site before, so she must just be busy!  ) She has a lot of great screencaps from The Monkees TV show.
and http://www.dedicatedtodavy.net/ by Mare (user name: davidshoney) Her site has all kinds of pictures of Davy Jones from various eras, including many that she's taken herself! There are a couple of websites that I have discovered along the way which have some good stuff, but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head right now, except for the ones that others have already mentioned. Take a look at the Internet Scavenger Hunt Game thread in the Games Forum (<--link) . It's on page 2 of the forum, because we haven't played the game for a while, but you can also just click on the link in this post (^ above, on the name of the thread) to get there. There are some interesting pictures there, and I usually try to credit the websites I get pix from, so you may be able to find some links to other good picture sites there as well. Also, each of the individual Monkees' forums has some type of "picture thread" on which member have been posting some of their favorite pictures of each Monkee, so those are worth checking out too.

Like someone up thread mentioned (thanks for the plug:)), my fansite Psycho Jello ( http://www.psycho-jello.com/monkees/photos.html ) has over 1,500 photos. I also like going to ( http://www.corbis.com) . Just type in "Monkees" and there's a few hundred photos, most by Henry Diltz.

I am one of the ones that refuse to visit Psycho-Jello for the reasons Pam mentioned. But, having said that, the time I did check it out I do agree that it
has great pictures, and the ONLY reason to visit it.
No one has mentioned The Purple Flower Gang, I assume it is still around. I haven't been there in ages either, but it was a nice site with good pics. I was going to mention Mare's site, but I checked it out, and although she has wonderful pics I didn't find any good ones of the Monkee shirt. I am sure I saw a close up of David in it in the past, so it may still be there and I just missed it. Sally B.

I've went to the Corbis site and checked out the photos there. Incredible,but over half of them have the word "Corbis" stamped right across the
photo,making it not really worth getting those ones if you have a collection or want one for a desktop or screensaver.

Yes Meg, there are lots of people who do enjoy your site.
I'd like to don my moderator hat here for just a minute. I realize that there are varying tastes here at Monkeeland, and what might be a suitable website for one person may not be suitable for everyone. And as long as we can agree to disagree about these kinds of things in an adult manner, everybody should be able to express an opinion here...and that's all I think Sally was trying to do, not to hurt anybody's feelings. Having said that, let's all try to remember too that there are good people with good intentions behind a lot of this work, regardless of wether you like it or not, and that feelings can get hurt if something is worded the wrong way. Let's just try to be careful of that--that's all I'm saying. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Moving on, now........

My opinions are only MY opinions, and obviously not that of the management, or ML.When I read it I was VERY offended with some of the things on it. I did not
go back. It could have very well changed by now. I hope it has, especially since everyone here seems to like it. If that is so, then you have my apology.

Actually, I consider my photo offerings more utilitarian than quality, but folks are welcome to take them, to have and to host.
Meg's site has a PHAT set of photos! (Or is "sick" what one says these days? What strange word will be used as a superlative tomorrow?) I have her and many other providers of the photographic or visual graphic eye candy listed on my fansite's link list, but I see I have to revamp the wording for the Psycho Jello entry since I created that page when Meg was still overhauling the site. All different types of Monkees fans and admirers...many, many styles of websites and fanpages, all about the guys. And that is beautiful.

I think the slang terms changes about every five years or so. Used to be "Groovy",then "Cool",then "Phat" and now I have no idea
what the current terminology is. I gave up trying.
