The one that I have that someone sent me that I CAN see is just one someone taped. The one with the cover is from the box I purchased from Ebay.

Mkay. well that link is from the special I'm talking about. The one that was not released.
And since Rhino owns the Monkees then it's not been released by any official company. it could easily have been home taped and selling or trading it is legal since it hasn't been released. |

Hey folks! Sorry I missed this discussion earlier. True, the bottom pic on your DVD case, Sally, is the Daydream Believers cast, and from a graphic design
standpoint, I can pretty well guarantee that it is a bootleg. (It's not a bad job, though, considering!) It's a shame you can't watch it, though-
would be fun to see nonetheless!

I remember my roomie a few years ago saying that you could get computers set up to play European DVDs, but she didn't think there was a way to reverse the
process. Not sure if it's something you can do manually or if you'd have to take it in somewhere.... probably just a lot of hassle, though! But hey, if
you're ever looking to invest in a new DVD player, it may be a good excuse to get a dual region one.

They're just a different region, it's encoded into the disc- so that they will only play in DVD players that play discs of that region. Same with VHS
tapes. There are specialty shops that can switch over VHS tapes, but I'm not sure about DVDs. I think there's only 2 different regions- I think Region
1 is America (North and South) and the Region 2 is the rest of the world... not sure for sure, though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_codes
South America AND Australia are Region 4! And many of these foreign DVDs are what is known as Region 0 - usually these can be played on any DVD player, but that's never a guarantee. Only official releases or legitimate region-coded DVDs are guaranteed to play upon the DVD players that have been set to the appropriate region code for their countries. What one needs to do to play DVDs from other regions: 1. Buy a DVD player that plays DVDs from any region. Usually costs more. 2. To save money, there are many very inexpensive DVD players and Region 1 DVD players by name brands that actually have a "hack code" that permits the owner to disable the Region 1 default setting on their DVD players. You can find out the hack code usually through Google, using the appropriate search information, such as the make and model of the DVD player you own or are interested in purchasing and the phrases "hack code" and "region free" or "multi-region" or what have you. (Perhaps someone more knowledgeable behind the politics of this can explain why one must use a hack code to play DVDs from other regions? The only one I can think of is that region coding is a way to if not control, at least sway markets in favor of the more localized economy through the omission of certain information. Things, they are the same everywhere!) |

DavidForever wrote: Interesting Cover. The Main Background Pic features the Cast of the VH1 Biopic "Daydream Believers" (Jeff Geddis, Aaron Lohr, etc.) with the real guys pics as part of the small inserts near the top. Definitely a Photoshop job by someone. Not a bad one but I would question the authenticity of the copy.

I don't have it anymore. I sent it to Fiona in Scotland for part of her Christmas present since she would be able to play it.
