Posts: 80 (09/12/08 9:50 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	TWO shows. One at 3pm, the second at 8pm. From 4pm on, the key word was "wet." Yeah, it rained for most of the rest of the day. The first show was packed. The second not as much, but still had a great crowd. I'm hoping to get some piccies up tonight... & possibly some other fun stuff. I had Micky sign an 8x10 head shot of his from the 60s that they were selling during the first go 'round. The second time, I didn't want to spend any more money... well, I only spent a dollar. I had Micky sign a crisp dollar bill I had in my wallet.

My daughter had him sign her dollar as well! Glad you had fun at the concert and hope you didn't get too wet.

I knew I'd read it somewhere, but I frequent another musical artist's forum & couldn't remember where I saw it. Thank you. We weren't COMPLETELY soaked, but our jackets were which dampened the rest of us... but it could've been worse.

The second show we moved to the other side (it was closer to the line-up for autographs)... but Micky moved to the opposite side as well! I still have to go through my "notes" but a highlight early in the first show was Micky pulling the top have of the mic stand out of the bottom half. He spent a few verses putting it back together. First show we got Johnny B Goode & Purple Haze. Second show we got Johnny & Gimme Some Lovin'. (I'll have to check my notes on Purple Haze...) I think the first show was shortened by atleast the one song because they had a nine-year-old girl as the "opening act." I wasn't overly thrilled with her (besides she cut into my Micky time! ) During the second show Micky reached out beyond the overhang of the stage & asked if it was still raining. We said no & he said "Good, I don't wanna get electricuted!" I also made Micky smile when telling him I'd seen him in "Aida" (first show) & again when I had him sign my dollar (second show).

I was with Lauren at both concerts, and got just as wet. (Confirmed by my sweater that was so wet, I finally tossed it in the dryer.) I haven't been to a concert of any kind since I went to see country stars Diamond Rio and Alan Jackson in Virginia with my family in 2003, shortly before my sister's college graduation. (And it rained that day too - at least The Big E isn't on a messy mountain). I really enjoyed seeing Micky. He's the first Monkee I've ever seen live, and the first autograph I've ever gotten. "Johnny B Goode" in the first one and "Gimme Some Lovin'" in the second show were my favorites. He really got into those. I also enjoyed hearing Coco sing "Different Drum" - I'm a fan of Mike and of Linda Rondstat, and I love that song. I had Micky autograph the notebook I carry in my purse for random shopping lists after the first show. I didn't want to buy a photo, since I didn't know if was going to buy anything else at the fair and I didn't have much money on me. (I intend to keep that autograph in my notebook as a good-luck charm.) By the time we got to the second show, we were cold, wet, and tired, but we finally decided that we traveled all that way, and we were already wet, so...we stayed. I'm so glad we did! I was able to get my photo the second time around (a really cute one of all four guys from the first season episode "Monkee See, Monkee Die"). I think I got Micky to smile a little when I told him he could sign over Davy if he wanted.

And by the way, welcome to Monkeeland, Emma and welcome back, Lauren! I noticed that the band had yet another different keyboard player and bass player in your pictures than the ones that played with them when I saw them on Sept. 7th. I hope Dave A. is okay. (wrry) How great that you got to see Micky twice in one day -- and on the Monkeeversary day too! You seem to have gotten some terrific pictures, despite the rain. I just posted some from the Sept. 7th concert in my review thread in this forum, and there are more in a Webshots album. The sun was so bright that day that it was really hard to see the screen of the camera while taking the concert pictures, so there was no point zooming in, and I got kind of frustrated with the camera. My husband was undaunted by such troubles and went ahead and took a whole bunch of pictures anyway, and I'm so glad he did! I also think it is awesome that Peter came and joined Micky for a song or two on Sunday! Did anyone from here get to see that? I hope it shows up on Youtube. I've never had the good fortune to be present at one of those "mini-reunions," but I just love it when that happens!

You know, I feel the exact same way. I think it's because it brings us some hope. Not necessarily a hope that they will all reunite, but a hope that they are on good terms (or at least workable terms) with each other, in spite of things we've heard and seen in the press.
