Greetings to all in Monkeeland!

I go by the handle Papanez45 and my name is Jim,but my friends just call me Pops. I'm 63 years young and have been a Monkees (Nez in particlar) fan since 1966,when my wife and myself visited the set of their show. It was in August and they were filming 'Monkees A La Carte'. We were there for the restuarant scene.
I joined the army in 1967 and went to Vietnam for my tour of duty. I came home in 1970.
I spend my time doing carpentry and having lemonaide on the front porch.
A week or so ago,I was out in the garage working on making some banisters and listening to Nez and my oldest son was telling me about Monkees sites on the internet and this place just looked so gosh darned friendly,I knew I picked the right place.

Welcome, Jim!

I'm Nora, one of the mods and all-around "regular", who just happened to have seen Nez live in Monterey last weekend. Glad to have you here and I know I speak for all of us when I say we'd love to hear your story about visiting the set!

My name is Rachael, and I have been a fan since the end of their first season, Micky is my favorite....
You went to Viet Nam?? I had a cousin who went between 68/69. Was writing to him and then also sending letters to Micky's fan club at the same time. How crazy were those times, hey??

I agree with Nora that you should open a thread of being on the set with the Monkees, everyone would love to hear about it I am sure!

Just start one in the Group forum, that would probably be the place to do that....

I been a member here since Aug of '06, and it is indeed a great place for Monkee fans -- welcome! *shakes your hand*

Hey there again, Jim. You already know who I am, but I figured I'd say "hello" to you officially here. I echo Nora's sentiments, we'd love to hear any remembrances you have of visiting the Monkees set. I also noticed your post in the Nez forum that you've seen Mike in concert a number of times through the 70's, too. We'd be equally as excited to hear about those experiences, too.

I'm glad to see that you've already jumped in and started posting a bit. Do feel free to look around, make yourself comfy and join in the fun. Let us know if we can be of any help as you get started.

Yeah well me too. I'm from Northern Vermont originally and most of My ancestors came outta Quebec so I am almost Canook by default!

Anywho, Pops, Welcome to the Nez board...er, um... I mean Monkeeland ( I heard there were 3 other guys in Nez's band on his TV show in the 60s).

I too am a First Generassic enthusiast with a bent toward Nez also. 20 year Army Vet with 20 years of Active Duty under my belt and I still am working fer the Army today as a Federal Civilian.

I am one of the ones who cause a ruckus, start trouble and generally stir up the pot with my brand of humor and eccentricity. My dad was a woodworker and carpenter and he was a big Nez fan too and in fact he used would stop whatever he was doing to watch the Monkees with my brother and me.

Nez is the reason I also picked up the guitar many years ago.

It's great to have you here and I hope you will carve out your own niche here in our little corner of this interwebby contraption.

Hi, Pops, welcome. I've been a Monkees fan since the beginning, too. Obviously David is Number One in my opinion! I got to watch 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee being filmed.

Welcome to Monkeeland, Jim!

I'm glad you found us. So is your son a Nez/Monkees fan too?

I also would certainly love to hear more about how you happened to have the opportunity to visit the set of The Monkees show back in 1966 and what that experience was like for you and your wife!

You are also one of the few fans I've encountered who saw Michael Nesmith in concert back in the 70s, and I'd love to know more about those concert experiences as well.

Sally B,since I was overseas when 33&1/3 first was on tv,I missed it. I finally saw it in the late 80s when my son got it on vhs. You were very lucky to of seen that show being made.

Big Dogma,after I did my active duty,I remained with the army til 1987,getting my 20 years in. Seems like woodworkin and Nez go hand in hand. Both give us peace of mind and enjoyment. Trust me,Big Dogma,I got my handy wood chisel and am hopin to carve out a niche here in this friendly place.

Littlemetalbottletops,I would be glad to share my times seein Nez in concert. And I will have to write about seein the Monkees in 66 on the set. Those boys were a riot. They never slowed down.

Welcome, Jim! New photos and reports in the Michael Nesmith and Monkeeshines sections about Nez's first public performance in a few years at the Monterey Jazz Festival!

(I've only encountered one article about it so far, and the writer seemed to think it very unusual for Nez to be there. Well, it's California, whaddya want?)

I looked at the photos of Nez at the jazz fest and am glad to see him doin the onstage. My son told me today that someone might have a clip on youtube. If anybody finds any clips,can they be posted?

Oh! Jim, ask him where cuz I been watchin for a clip to post.....on Youtube anyway I checked Monkees, Mike, VR, Rebecca's name, even the Jazz fest too, and so far I found nada on Mike's performance there...

8 more short years from now we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Monkees.

What will Monkeeland be like then? Maybe a video enhanced posting process?

What other group has had the Multi-Generation fan appeal that the Monkees has?
