The Buckinghams opened the show. The played for a little over an hour, covered all their hits and did a few Christmas songs. There's one song they did about remembering the troops at Christmas that was pretty moving. My friends and I had a chance to talk with several of the guys before the show, as they were sitting right next to us at the casino bar and grille.
Dave Alexander, i.e. "Loafy Claus" was in the full Santa suit again this year. I am amazed that he got through the whole show without having to take at least part of it off. he must have been dying in that! Dave, Micky and Coco did a very spirited "Deck The Halls" acapella that was kind of cool at the start of the show.
Micky did a number of songs I hadn't heard in quite a while! He tried "She", (he flubbed the lyrics in the middle, but covered as best he could), and "Words", (with Dave A. doing the Peter vocals). He also did "Oh, Darlin'" and introduced it by talking about how he was invited to a Beatles recording session, and got so hippied up that he looked like a cross between Ronald McDonald and Charles Manson. A water bottle sitting on his music stand rolled off and hit the ground just as he was saying something like "and this is how it sounded at that recording session". After everybody stopped laughing, Micky made up an impromptu Beatle-esque song about water bottles, saying that they were just that good, they could sing about anything.
Coco did her version of "Santa Baby" again, but they actually chose an unsuspecting guy from the crowd to come up on stage and play Santa this year. Micky also did his nice medley of Christmas classics done to piano accompaniment in the middle of the show.
They did something a little bit different during "I'm A Believer". I'm sure a lot of you have heard Paperback Believer. This is a mash-up of the vocal track of the Beatles' Paperback Writer with the instrumental backing track to the Monkees' I'm A Believer. They did the same thing in concert last night during the instrumental bridge in the middle of the song. Pretty neat!
I had a nice chat with Frodiscaper before the show, who had driven 6 hours the day before to get to the show in Milwaukee. Hopefully she's getting home okay today. By the time we started on our way home, it was starting to snow pretty heavily and it made for some very defensive driving.
My friend Jane did get photos of me with both Micky and Coco that turned out okay. I'll post them as soon as she sends them to me. I did take photos at the show, but I am really disappointed in how they turned out. They're all really dark. I tried to salvage these as best I could, but they're not making me do backflips, either. I saw that Frodiscaper had a really good camera with her. Hopefully she'll have some good ones to share.

I also think your photos were
great, despite the darkness. You got some lovely close-ups and captured some good facial expressions! And Loafy in the Santa suit --
priceless!
