Sally, I have read in an online story that in the event of a tie, Simon carries the sway vote. I agree with you about Bikini girl. She isn't going to be
there long. I think there are already a lot of interesting personalities coming to light with a variety of compelling back stories. I hope to see a lot more of
them in the Hollywood rounds and beyond.

I noticed that the other judges looked to Simon for the "finite" vote on some contestants. So that makes sense to hear that he has the decision on
who's in or not. It will be interesting to see how this pans out when we see the other cities.

Simon and Randy were definitely bikini blind when they put bikini girl through. I saw Randy on a talk show and he said he thinks it's the guys this year.
The people that come in with a stupid gimmick hardly ever get put through. You can tell right away that Simon hates them and it's a big waste of his time.
I didn't know if I would, but I do like the new judge. It's too early for me to remember anyone in particular. I don't start picking my
favorites until the next round.

I thought there were better girls coming out of Jacksonville last night than guys, to be honest. The guy who couldn't decide between physics and music was
absolutely ridiculous.

There were some good ones from Utah. I figured they would put the Osmond through, before he sang. Just think of all the bad reviews they would get if they
turned down an Osmond. What did you all think of Alan Osmond? He certainly has changed. Some horrible ones did get through, though, but a lot of them will
be weeded out.
I personally do not like Kara. Maybe if she developed a personality and quit b----ing about getting to talk it would help. Her attitude, poor little me, sucks if you will pardon the word (I hate it, but it applies here.) Others must think so, too, because I read that she may not last the season. And do we really need women passionately kissing? Kara didn't actually look too pleased with that, though. Anyway, we only have one more show of tryouts, tonight. Then on to Hollywood! Sally B.

There has already been a girl let through to Hollywood that's had a recording contract with a major record label this year, too. To me, AI is about finding "unknowns", and putting people through who have already had that kind of experience gives them an unfair advantage. That's not to say that I didn't think that Alan Osmond was bad. Quite the contrary. I just have a feeling that he may coast through on name recognition, and that's not fair. Shane

I think the Osmond fellow will have to work hard to prove he belongs in the competition on talent and not name only. But how could they not put an Osmond
through in Utah?? It will be interesting when they get to Hollywood. I think a few they have put through were not quite up to it, but there are always
surprises. And those that seem to be really good, crash and burn. Im looking forward to the next round of auditions. I dont have a problem really with
professional singers auditioning and getting through if they deserve too. They will get weeded out. After all if they were that successful, they wouldnt need
AI. They made have an edge from a performance aspect but if they dont have the talent and personality to carry them, they'll be out.

Been watching the auditions on and off, Jeanette watches and I am hearing it.....I usually begin to really get into it once they go to Hollywood. I agree with
you Shane, how could they not put an Osmond through? Yet at the same time I don't quite understand why one is there.....I agree that isn't the premise
to find a completely unknown average joe or jane??????

Actually, I don't think this particular Osmond, Alan's son has any particular show biz advantage except for the name and family connection. I meant
what did you think of ALAN. I hadn't seen him for so long I wouldn't have regognized him. Donny and Marie have stayed more in the spotlight. I think
we need to hear Alan's son sing more contemporary songs, maybe I should say AI type songs, to be able to tell if he really has talent. At least he can
carry a tune, which is more than I can say about most! So far there are far too many to start picking out a possible winner. We will lose a lot next week.

Does anybody recognize that Buddhist chant the last girl was reciting last night? I wonder if she got it from a cereal box top?

Two comments on the Hollywood rounds so far:
1) Thank Heaven bikini girl is gone. I just could not stand her. 2) I'm surprised they cut the Osmond kid. What's more, I'm surprised they didn't show his group round performance on the show. They just mentioned in passing that he was cut. Wow. Shane

Outside of us "old" folks, in this fast paced microwave Playstation generation of today, how many people in America really know what an
"Osmond" is?
"If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME stuff, why didn't he just buy dinner?" "They call me the Bandit without any Pants." BD the GOMOTB(Grumpy Old Man of the Board.....Yeah thats me! whatcha gonna do about it?) "Weasles! They're not just for breakfast anymore!" |

I think most know what and Donny and Marie are, they have been on TV more often. I do wish they would have at least shown David Osmond's group to see how
he did. I thought he was pretty good. I knew Bikini girl wouldn't last long. She didn't seem too unhappy about it. She got her TV coverage (pun
intented). I am glad the group show is over, they showed more fighting than music.

Some of the groups did amazingly well - especially loved the group with the two guy friends in it. Its a little disappointing we didnt get to see how all of them did though, even just a small snippet would have been good. Im glad "bikini girl" was finally sent on her way - she was so annoying and I cant fathom why she was there in the first place. And as OTT as the "norman" guy is, I think there is a voice in there somewhere, Im waiting for him to just sing so I can find out. |

Blackparis wrote:Absolutely! I like the two of them as well. They're both from the Milwaukee area, and have been getting some local news coverage around here. I'd be very happy to see either or both of them stick around for a while. I thought their acapella group performance was amazing, considering the short amount of time they had to put it together. And as OTT as the "norman" guy is, I think there is a voice in there somewhere, Im waiting for him to just sing so I can find out.I agree with that, as well. I just hope that he puts away the affectations soon. If he does indeed get to the point where people are going to be able to start voting, I don't see him lasting long if he doesn't start taking things a bit more seriously. But then again, we're talking about the same general public that didn't get rid of Sanjaya for half of forever. Shane

On an American Idol board, someone posted David Osmond's blog. He supposedly lost his voice right before they were to go on. He says in the blog how he
tried his hardest but his voice was not good at all. He said he kept thinking of Barry Manilow's words "whatever you do, don't get sick" and
then he did. I guess it's only fair that he didn't make it. I would think there might have been a bit of an uproar if he made it through. I think
people might think that he's taking away an average Joe's chance, that an Osmond doesn't need American Idol.
I'm glad bikini girl is gone too. As annoying as she was, she wasn't half as annoying as that girl they put through tonight. Tatiana (or something like that) is so annoying with that crying and screaming! She has a good voice but OMG! The guy with the glasses is really good but so was his friend and the friend didn't make it!

OMG, Tatiana - Nooooooo!!!! The guy with the glasses is my favourite so far, and I was surprised his friend didnt get through. I hope Norman can hold it
together and make it work. The "12's" will be interesting.

And Simon - it was quite irritating to him. Kinda sad that the 2 friends both didn't make it through.....I was almost expecting the one who did to say he wouldn't go onward without the other, when the other told him he didn't make it through. His expression was such a heartbroken look!

I was surprised that Jamar didn't make it through last night. That was the biggest shocker to me. (Aside from the fact that they're keeping
Nick/Norman/whatever his name is.)
I have a feeling that Tatiana won't last a long time. If she makes it past the few few weeks of voting I'd be really surprised. Shane
