The Chicago area Monkeelanders don't need to know a whole lot about the Ides, but for those who are "unschooled", the Ides Of March rose to
prominence in the early 70's, scored a top 10 hit with "Vehicle", (you know the one...about the "friendly stranger in the black
sadan"), and never matched that feat again. The band had a number of regional hits that music enthusiasts may recall such as "LA Goodbye" and
"You Wouldn't Listen".
The band's lead guitarist/vocalist, Jim Peterik, formed the band Survivor in the 80's ("The Search Is Over", "Eye Of The Tiger"),
as well as co-writing many of the hits for .38 Special ("Hold On Loosely", "Rockin' Into The Night"). The Ides regularly play a lot of
these songs in concert.
